Utility Billing Cashier

Hiring Rate:$18.15 hourly
Full Pay Range: $18.15 - $27.23 hourly
Work Schedule:Flexible with 3-day weekends

Under direct supervision, provides assistance to the Utility Billing department. Duties include complex clerical and customer service functions, including greeting customers, processing utility payments, handling questions and complaints regarding utility accounts and answering phones as needed.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides quality, professional customer service to the general public.
• Researches and responds to customer inquiries regarding water, sewer, and trash service. Directs customers to appropriate departments for other City-related assistance.
• Accepts and processes payments, answers questions regarding account balances and payment options and assistance.
• Balances cash drawer and prepares daily bank deposits while complying with the City’s cash handling policy.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED and one year of customer service/cash handling experience preferably in a retail or office setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have exceptional customer service skills.

Other Requirements

A valid Class “C" Driver's License is required and ability to maintain city driving standards in accordance with the driver standards as established by the City of Rowlett. Must report all traffic citations to his/her departmental Director or his/her designee pursuant to city policy.
