Description

Provides services to customers in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while maintaining the confidentiality of the bank’s records and customer transactions. Learns about our sales and service delivery options and refers the appropriate products and services matching the clients’ needs based upon the client conversation. Also responsible for processing regular transactions, such as paying and receiving money and keeping records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions in an efficient, friendly, and accurate manner.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: 

  1. Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of all compliance regulations pertinent to assigned duties by successful completion of any courses assigned in a timely manner.  Follows all regulatory banking laws and explains compliance to others.  This includes, but is not limited to, BSA, CRA, CIP, OFAC, GLBA, Reg. CC, Reg. GG, Information Security, etc.
  2. Completes all assigned training on time to maintain skills and knowledge, especially with regard to safety, security, compliance and risk.  Utilizes software and other methods to record and track training.
  3. Follows all physical and data security procedures as set forth by policy and instructs others on the proper safety protocols.  Performs various audits to identify lapses in security or inaccuracies in record keeping.  Reports anomalies to the proper people within the organization.
  4. Attends and actively participates in employee or team meetings.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned

 

Teller Duties:

  1. Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of written and numerical amounts, signatures, identity of person who is to receive payment, and sufficient funds in the account.
  2. Processes all types of deposits and payments.  Enters customer transactions into computer for record and verifies account is sufficient with no warnings. Issues computer-generated receipts.
  3. Follows all security procedures as set forth by policy. Observes cash drawer and check cashing limits.
  4. Follows procedural guidelines in processing the sale of negotiable items such as official checks.  Redeems Savings Bonds.
  5. Balances daily work and cash drawer while preparing required forms in accordance with standard procedures while using teller and branch capture systems.
  6. Understands and adheres to the Teller Performance Standards.
  7. Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of all compliance regulations pertinent to job duties by successful completion of any training courses assigned in a timely manner
  8. Learns how to identify sales opportunities.  Explains, promotes, and provides information on products/services that meet customer needs. Understands sales goals and incentive program and works toward achieving sales goals set for position.
  9. Completes all sales and referral activity documentation to provide a record for performance tracking and assist in targeting future sales efforts.
  10. Demonstrates a positive and helpful behavior toward customers and teammates throughout the bank.
  11. Assumes responsibility for mistakes. Demonstrates consistency between what is said and what is done. Behaves according to sound ethical and legal standards.
  12. Understands customer patterns in order to be prepared for cash flow                                                                                         

Customer Service Duties:

  1. Confers with bank customers by phone or in person and explains various account options available.  Answers customer questions relating to the opening and closing of accounts.
  2. Records personal data into platform system and processes in accordance with well-defined procedures.
  3. Reviews credit data base to determine customers credit worthiness prior to opening new account.
  4. Prepares documentation for new accounts and performs file maintenance. Handles new check orders and reorders.
  5. Brings operational problems or concerns to the attention of the Branch Manager for resolution.
  6. Demonstrates flexibility in working with others, maintains composure in frustrating situations and adapts to change and helps other adapt.
  7. Learns to monitor various items and complete specific reports.  Learns about branch audits.
  8. May be required to prepare reports by capturing information.
  9. May perform other duties such as renting safe deposit boxes, maintaining records, and preparing routine correspondence.
  10. May be required to cover multiple branches within a geographic area if hired as a member of the Travel Team.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not supervise other employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education:  High School diploma

Preferred Education:  Associate’s or Bachelor's degree

Prior teller or high-volume, commercial cash handling experience and customer service experience required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Ability to create spreadsheets in Excel. Ability to create and edit Word documents.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.  Ability to navigate the Internet.  Ability to operate Platform and Teller systems with various software.  Ability to learn new systems.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
