Traffic Control Technician (Journeyman)

POSITION SUMMARY
B.A.T.S. is seeking motivated, energetic, fast learning Traffic Control Technicians. The Traffic Control Technician (Helper) assists the Traffic Control Lead in the following areas: Traffic Control setups and device installations, Pedestrian Control, Flagging and Traffic Direction.
SCHEDULE-
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Weekends
POSITION DUTIES:
Customer Service-
- Coordinating with customer and/or BATS dispatchers ensuring a safe, efficient, and problem-free service provided to BATS customers,
- Respond to Dispatch Center calls in a timely manner for availability
- Report all unsafe conditions to upper management as soon as possible
- Maintain contact with BATS Dispatchers on and off the job as well as apprentices and traffic control technicians
- Internal support with team as it relates to projects and needs of BATS customers
Traffic Device Installation, Driving and Equipment Towing -
- Maintain all equipment in good working condition while installing and ensuring proper removal of equipment
- Operation of vehicles in various sizes (trucks, flat beds, etc.)
- Mounting of signs
- Proficient in traffic control setup regulations
- Inspection of equipment and inventory of necessary equipment prior to use and after use
Traffic Plan Review and Implementation-
- Completing all necessary paperwork on a regular basis including time sheets and mandatory documentation relating to BATS projects
- Review inventory and inspect equipment needed for the jobs and projects and being accountable of the material
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Can lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Full range of motion of arms, legs including doing a squat
- Ability to having full range of movement with arms and hands grip, hold, carry, and lift
- Ability to raise arms past shoulder height
- Ability and willingness to work in outside work environment exposed to the elements
- Repetitive work movement
- Ability to work in an environment with high noise levels
Minimum Requirements
- Must be a member of the Local Laborers Union with a minimum Journeyman II Classification
- Good customer service and communication skills (both written and oral)
- Must read/write in English
- Bi-lingual preferred but not required
- Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently
- Clean driving record preferred
- Valid Driver's License Required
- Experience driving pickup trucks required
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current Flagging Certification preferred but not required
