Job Description:
TOWER Technician III/TOP HAND. Acting lead role to the Foreman. Taking direction from the Construction Manager, this individual will have the ability to build a site based on set of plans, Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and Bill of Materials (BOMs) provided. Candidate must be willing to operate hand tools, power tools, and other construction equipment and machinery on a daily basis in all outdoor weather environments. All duties must be performed in accordance with OSHA and other worker safety standards with keeping high quality, accountability, and budget timelines in mind. The ability to troubleshoot problems and provide solutions is necessary for success in this role. The position frequently requires activities like climbing, twisting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The position requires the employee to regularly lift and/or move at least 50 pounds. This is a labor-intensive position that is considered Safety-Sensitive.
Job Responsibilities:
- The Top Hand will be responsible for assuring the successful execution of projects on site alongside the Foreman or in their absence.
- They will assist with assigning tasks to crew members, identify necessary project materials, help manage all customer interaction on site and complete all reporting and project documentation in absence of a site Foreman.
- The Top Hand will also work with site Foreman to ensure proper use of all safety equipment and adherence to all safety procedures as well as compliance with all OSHA regulations on site.
- This position is considered Safety-Sensitive.
- Tech needs a strong working knowledge of LTE, GSM, and UMTS platforms as well as highly skilled duties related to installation, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems as related to equipment installation and failure.
- Be able to perform antenna sweeps, frequency spectrum sweeps and maintains site configuration data using computer software and digital photography.
- Will occasionally work with outside installation contractors and departments within the company to complete work assignments on all equipment to include microwave, antennas, towers, coax cabling and associated equipment.
- Will work very closely with Foreman, Construction Manager, and PMO team.
Job Requirements:
- 3-5 years of cell site construction experience.
- Experience in up to date technologies.
- Experience in all aspects of line and antenna system installation, replacement, and maintenance (including coax, jumpers, TMAs, connectors, weatherproofing, etc.).
- Ability to read and redline engineered drawings
- Ability to read RFDS sheets and other RF materials.
- Ability to review and submit a complete turnover package to our PMO department once a project is complete.
- Ability to read design documents, compile material requirements, and perform all types of cell site antenna and line installations.
- Experience with testing (PIM, Fiber, Sweep, etc.)
- Capstan and rigging experience.
- Experience working at an elevated height.
- Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Ability to climb tall structures (100 feet or more) with 50 lb load to perform work
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Availability to work irregular hours and/or respond to emergency call-outs on a 24-hour basis.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the state with overnight stays.
- Certification for Climbing/Rigging/Aerial Lift/CPR/OSHA/TTT/PIM/RF Awareness.
- Strong consultative, organizational, interpersonal, and communication (verbal & written) skills.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook.
- MUST be able to pass a background and drug screen (no felony charges) and have a clean driving record (no DUI's).
