Job Title: Total Rewards Benefits ManagerDepartment: Total RewardsReporting to: Sr. Director, Total RewardsFLSA Status: Exempt


Job Summary


This position is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of all health and welfare employee benefit plans and programs including retirement. Takes high level strategy and implements the detailed processes, systems and resources to support. Provides strong analytical and plan expertise for the health, welfare, and retirement programs. Ensures plans and programs are in alignment with Krystal business objectives and support our high-performance culture by attracting, retaining, and rewarding employees. This position ensures that benefits programs are in compliance with all Federal and State regulations. Benefits responsibilities include medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, short and long term disability plans, voluntary and supplemental benefit offerings, onsite and remote wellness programming. This position will also assist with processing payroll in ADP Workforce Now as needed.


Summary of Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities


  • Drives innovation around benefit solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Anticipates future benefit needs and recommends strategies to meet the needs of rapidly scaling teams in current and emerging markets.
  • Manages, plans, develops, implements, administers and communicates benefit programs, including all health and welfare and retirement benefit plans.
  • Manages the overall benefit plan renewal process and recommend go-forward approach by proactively anticipating changes and needs of the marketplace, company, and employees by taking into consideration market research and cost analysis to ensure the benefit program remains competitive and financially sustainable.
  • Oversees internal and external audits and ensures internal compliance standards are met. Researches legislative requirements and ensures compliance of the various employee benefit plans and programs.
  • Lead the annual benefit plan budgeting in close partnership with Finance.
  • Reviews, edits and negotiates vendor contract agreement language, terms and performance guarantees, involving internal and/or external legal counsel as appropriate.
  • Creates and executes written project plans that identify scope, deliverables, tasks, accountabilities and due dates required to ensure successful project completion.
  • Develops, introduces, markets and communicates all benefit program implementations and changes to employees.
  • Responsible for the overall relationship with vendors, brokers and/or consultants.
  • Envisions, conceptualizes, and formulates action plans for process improvements, service delivery enhancements, and cost savings measures.
  • Provides guidance, advice, analysis, and training of HR professionals with respect to applicable benefit plans.
  • Recognized subject matter expert and provides consultation regarding complex benefit issues
  • Provides consultation on various workforce actions as needed from time to time.
  • Assisting with payroll functions of processing payroll as needed


Education and/or Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, Human Resources and/or equivalent work experience.
  • CEBS or other benefit certification, a plus.
  • 5+ years' experience in a benefit position managing the full benefit function (health, welfare, pension and 401k) including program modeling, design, implementation, administration and employee support.
  • Previous experience in an automated benefits environment required.

  

Education and/or Experience (con't)


  • Expert knowledge of federal and state regulations that govern benefit plans and leave management preferred; ERISA required
  • Strong analytical competence, including modeling and scenario planning.
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now is desired.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, preferably ADP Workforce Now
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead/manage projects to meet established objectives/deadlines.
  • Exceptional customer service skills using diplomacy and sensitivity, excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of effective program promotion through various mediums preferred.
