The Global Technology & Operations group (GTO) is a diverse team of engineers, developers, business analysts, claims analysts and project managers with the freedom to create innovative and solutions to address core business challenges with MetLife. This role will provide exemplary customer service by managing total absence claims in a timely and accurate fashion.
Key Responsibilities
- Virtual roles predominately work from a home office with periodic visits to the assigned GCSO office as needed for team events, meetings, training, business continuity, etc.
- Handle, review, and administer Family & Medical Leave Act standalone (as well as other leave) claims and adhere to federal and state regulatory and/or company plan requirements and established FMLA workflow procedures and evaluate against appropriate leave plans and make initial claim decisions.
- Complete eligibility decisions during intake call, gather pertinent data, when necessary, from employee or other supporting systems as well as perform leave follow-ups as required, including recertification of health condition, intermittent claim tracking, RTW confirmation, etc.
- Update systems to accurately reflect leave status and ensure appropriate diary documentation exists.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills
Required:
- New hires should live in a commutable distance from the site the role is posted in.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1-2 years related experience with strong customer satisfaction focus and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Knowledge of system applications and Disability claims knowledge/working knowledge of FMLA/Disability/Leave procedures preferred.
- 1 year of experience with medical administrative experience.
- 1 year experience in customer service.

The wage for applicants for this position is $45,000.00 per year. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation.
