We are hiring a Network Engineer for the Missile Defense Agency’s Mission Voice Communications to support the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC) on Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado. FTI provides range support services for ballistic and hypersonic test missions at DoD, NASA, and other agency ranges around the world. We cover mission planning, networks and systems engineering, telemetry, data and voice communications, logistics, and cybersecurity aspects of missile testing.

 

This position will require that you configure, monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, and update voice and data communications systems to meet mission requirements. You must be available to travel up to 20% and maintain a valid US Passport, as well as possess a current DoD SECRET level security clearance. The position involves periodic paid STOT, up to 20% and requires travel to land and sea-based locations including Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) on Kauai HI, Reagan Test Site (RTS) on Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands, Wake Island, and MDA’s test support vessels the Pacific Collector and Pacific Tracker. Trip durations are dependent on customer test mission schedules which can change with short notice, normally lasting between 1 and 3 weeks. Total trips per year are dependent on MDA's T&E schedule averaging between 4 and 8.


  • Perform maintenance and upgrade of voice networks (T1, VOIP, SIP trunking, POTS) to include servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and maintain network connectivity to ensure high quality voice and data transmission.
  • Provide technical support to other departments with regards to voice networks.
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors and other third-party providers.
  • Administer systems running Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Accomplish pre-mission communication checks and voice instrument configuration verification.
  • Assist in design of new technical solutions, planning, procurement, and implementations.
  • Perform equipment installs, configuration updates, and troubleshooting actions at remote sites.
  • Train voice circuit users on how to use equipment, instruments, headsets etc.

 

Required:

  • Active U.S. Dept. of Defense Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering related technical field and 3+ years of directly related experience ~OR~ a High School diploma and 7+ years directly related experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining communications systems.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • 3+ years of experience performing network, Windows, and/or Linux administration in an enclave or enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in configuring, testing, and troubleshooting end-to-end Voice circuits and equipment. 
  • Effectively work in a team environment, make recommendations, and garner consensus to implement ideas.
  • Able to support approximately 4-8 CONUS/OCONUS missions  per year.  Typical land and sea locations include:
    • MDIOC in CO, Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) on Kauai HI, Reagan Test Site (RTS) on Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands, Wake Island, and MDA’s test support vessels the Pacific Collector and Pacific Tracker.

Preferred:

  • Current Security+ or another qualifying DoD Directive 8570.01 IAT Level II certification.
    • Must be able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience with MS Office and MS Visio.
  • Compunetix experience.
  • Experience with network analysis tools such as SolarWinds and WhatsUp Gold.
  • Prior Help Desk or other direct user support service.
  • Prior US Military service with field deployment experience.
  • Familiarity with Dept. of Defense test ranges such as PMRF, Kauai HI, Wake Island. and RTS Kwajalein, Marshall Islands.

 

For this role, the compensation range for candidates in Colorado is $71k- $120K. Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. FTI has a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
