Equipment Engineering Technician II
This entry-level position will support the Equipment Engineering Group at Microchip Fab 2 in Tempe, AZ. The individual will perform Preventive Maintenance duties and actively sustain semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performance of Preventive Maintenance for several toolsets, including ion implanters, dry etch platforms, CMP polishers, and Endura PVD/CVD deposition systems.
- Follow written PM specifications and Original Equipment Manufacturer’s manuals to disassemble, adjust, calibrate, and repair equipment.
- Document information in electronic format (Excel, Maintenance Tracking System, Outlook, etc.)
- Apply appropriate diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques to identify common failures of complex electromechanical machines and subassemblies.
- Assist senior equipment technicians and engineers in data collection, repair, and part tracking duties.
- Provide input to assist with development and optimization of equipment preventive maintenance schedules and tasks.
- Ability to understand and follow chemical safety procedures and protocols.
- Utilization of various test instrumentation (oscilloscope, DVM, helium leak-checker, RF calibration, etc.)
- Must pass ERT physical and participate on ERT team.
- Must be willing to travel for training purposes.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Military training or certification from an institute of higher learning in an electronics or technical/scientific field preferred.
- Combination of acquired knowledge and experience in electronics, mechanics, vacuum theory, gas delivery systems, automatic robotic systems, plasma theory, and clean room protocol ideal.
- Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-directed and self-motivated.
- An eagerness to learn.
- Operate with integrity/maintain productivity with little or no supervision.
- Work in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot electronic/electromechanical circuitry.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS and WORKING CONDITIONS
- Perform physically demanding and technical tasks.
- Lift, Carry, Push/Pull up to 75 pounds.
- Work in full Personal Protective Equipment (gown/bunny suit, face shield, acid-resistant gloves, plastic apron) for long periods.
- Climb up and down a 6-ft ladder.
- Bend, stretch, and contort to repair machines.
- Work bent over with head and arms below waist level.
- Work on knees or laying down.
- Required to use a respirator.
- Hold, squeeze, twist, and manipulate basic hand tools.
- Standing on hard surfaces (concrete or metal floors) for long periods.
