Job Purpose
AkzoNobel is actively recruiting for a Technical Service Representative for our Wood Coatings product line. This position will be based at the customer location in Grants Pass, Oregon.
The purpose of this role is to provide technical support and training on the use and application of company products, services, equipment and documentation in acquiring new business and in maintaining multiple existing customers.
Key Responsibilties
- Provide total technical support to customers.
- Analyze product-related issues, including on-site analysis and actuations. Perform laboratory analysis of the issues when needed. Communicates with RS Lab and/or Quality Control department to establish corrective actions.
- Formulation of special colors and minor modifications to improve application curing and preparation of test panels.
- Check incoming materials and/or pre-ships for color and quality.
- Maintain master control panels and quality control on materials.
- Gather customer needs and requirements in cooperation with Sales and Marketing organization to help build the customer strategy plans.
- Actively participate in key phases of the sales process to prospects.
- Use reporting tools such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to update the key customers' databases with valid, accurate and complete information (visits reports, action reports, cases, and regulatory requests).
Job Requirements
- Associate of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience required. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years' experience in technical services and support in wood coatings industry or furniture/building products manufacturing.
- Knowledgeable of various finish application systems with good color matching skills. Must be able to read and comprehend instructions and safety guidelines.
- Must possess commercial and business acumen as well as an understanding of cross functional processes and financial concepts related to sales and cost to serve.
Total Compensation
- Employee Benefits: This position is a full-time opportunity with AkzoNobel with employee benefits that are effective the first day of employment
- Compensation: This position will receive an annual base salary of $65,000 to $75,000 and is eligible for an annual 15% bonus.
