THE ROLE: Team Lead, Platform Ops
Job Summary:
As a Team Lead, you will responsible for developing and maintaining internal Managed Services infrastructures automation and their platforms (with assistance from the Infrastructure Engineer team) under direct supervision of the Engineering Manager. The Team Lead will provide process guidance and act as the escalation point for the PlatformOps Engineering team. The Team Lead will also be the primary point of contact for all incidents assigned to them and retain ownership until resolution is reached or is otherwise advised. The position is subject to shift work and a candidate would be expected to move to different shifts as needed. The Team Lead will be expected to interact with peers and management via phone, IM, video, and email to ensure internal issues are resolved per defined SLA’s while documenting all actions and communication in the ticketing system, ServiceNow.
Travel Requirements:
This is a remote role. In this role you will be expected to travel up to 5%.
Job Responsibilities:
- You will be writing automations and integrations for Palo Alto XSOAR in Python
- Creating and maintaining automation code written in python.
- Develop processes, procedures, and documentation to magnify the benefits of existing Managed Services tools and platforms
- Use and develop in tools such as Ansible, Packer, and Terraform to assist in automating repeatable actions across Managed Services
- Work closely with the Platform Dev team to drive automation and efficiency across multiple teams and platforms across Managed Services
- Understand business drivers and utilize time and availability to deliver fast and accurate outcomes within the toolsets.
- Manage time effectively and prioritize efforts under pressure.
- Create documentation and define services/capabilities in a clear and concise language that is easy to read for non-technical resources.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Experience working with RESTful APIs
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and *nix operating systems
- Experience using infrastructure as code and automated configuration tools
- Continuously develop technical skills to gain mastery with the established DevOps toolchain and stay current with new services and technologies
- Experience leveraging DevOps solutions to deploy changes to infrastructure
- Experience with continuous integration and automated deployment/management using tools like Jenkins, Git, Jinja, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Packer, or comparable tools
- Programming/scripting with Python, PowerShell, Bash and Groovy
- Experience working in an Agile delivery environment
- Experience with system monitoring and analytics platforms is a plus, e.g. Nagios, NetXMS, DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, LogicMonitor
- Experience with software containers and related technologies, e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, ECS, EKS
- Basic understanding of Hypervisors – including VMWare and Hyper-V
- Strong interpersonal skills and expert level relationship management abilities – showcasing the ability to work well with many levels of client engineering and management.
- Handling and escalating highly impacting operational issues to upper management and/or 3rd party vendors
Additional Desired Skills:
- Strong communications skills including the ability to communicate technical information in using non-technical language
- Previous experience or aptitude to be successful in an Operations capacity
- Cisco or other vendor certifications pertinent to the engineering vertical.
- A history of successfully managing and operating multi-vendor environments.
- Ability to work on several problems simultaneously
- Ability to work with broad range of experience levels
- Maintaining complex operational processes
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent work experience and/or military experience
- 2+ years’ experience working in a Network Operations Center
- 2+ years’ experience troubleshooting infrastructure devices applicable to engineering vertical
- 1+ year experience in a mentoring or leadership role
