Sybase:
Provide 24/7 support for any production related activities on Sybase 12.5 and 15.x databases as part of global follow-the-sun support model.
Be familiar with performance and tuning of Sybase databases to help developers and other support staff
Cross train and help other members of the global Sybase DBA support team
Participate in Sybase support tasks like, HA and DR tests, incident, change and release management, capacity monitoring and management and upgrades and migrations
Participate in physical and logical database design discussions with development teams and design and setup Sybase replication for DR and data distribution purposes
Good understanding of unix, Solaris, Linux, AIX and SAN storage like EMC and XIV
MSSQL
Provide 24/7 support for any production related activities on MSSQL 2005/2008/ databases as part of global follow-the-sun support model.
Participate in MSSQL 2005/2008 support tasks like, HA and DR tests, incident, change and release management, capacity monitoring and management and upgrade and migrations
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
5+ years of DBA experience supporting production Sybase and MSSQL databases
3+ years of experience in performing resource and project management activities such as planning, sizing, development, testing, configuration and scheduling to ensure all enterprise wide initiatives for Sybase and MSSQL databases
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
Strong knowledge of project and time management with demonstrated technical and analytical skills specifically in Sybase and MSSQL space
Strong team player with ability to work well with team members from other regions and cultures
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks. Strong verbal and written communication skills
Good communication skills with the ability to make sound arguments to support ideas
