POSITION PURPOSE:
The Surgical Services Coordinator (SSC) assists the Surgical Services Director with administrative tasks and functions as a member of the Peri-Operative health care team by scheduling all operative and invasive procedures, clarifying registration & pre-authorization, recording statistics, assembling charts, performing all clerical duties, and providing direct and indirect patient care as needed. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must have and keep current BLS certification
- Must demonstrate the ability to lift up to 50 pounds without self-injury, to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, to stoop, and to move heavy, cumbersome objects.
- Must be willing to be directed and to follow directions explicitly.
- Must be able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills and proper telephone etiquette.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Basic computer knowledge including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Medical office and clerical experience including HIPAA standards.
- Computerized registration, admitting, and discharge experience.
- Insurance verification experience, including rules for inpatient and outpatient surgeries.
- Excellent customer service skills; personable and professional with patients, staff and physicians.
- Ability to remain calm, with a professional demeanor, in all situations.
