SURGICAL SERVICES COORDINATOR (REQ 3434)

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Surgical Services Coordinator (SSC) assists the Surgical Services Director with administrative tasks and functions as a member of the Peri-Operative health care team by scheduling all operative and invasive procedures, clarifying registration & pre-authorization, recording statistics, assembling charts, performing all clerical duties, and providing direct and indirect patient care as needed. The SSC strives to assist patients and staff members in maintaining optimum safety and efficiency, and to provide a positive surgical experience for all involved.  The SSC 
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
2. Must have a high school diploma or GED
3. Must have and keep current BLS certification
4. Must demonstrate the ability to lift up to 50 pounds without self-injury, to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, to stoop, and to move heavy, cumbersome objects.
5. Must be willing to be directed and to follow directions explicitly.
6. Must be able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills and proper telephone etiquette.
7. Knowledge of medical terminology.
8. Basic computer knowledge including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
9. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
10. Medical office and clerical experience including HIPAA standards.
11. Computerized registration, admitting, and discharge experience.
12. Insurance verification experience, including rules for inpatient and outpatient surgeries.
13. Excellent customer service skills; personable and professional with patients, staff and physicians.
14. Ability to remain calm, with a professional demeanor, in all situations.
