Compensation: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour (based on years of experience).
Summary:
The Surgery and Endoscopy Scheduler's primaryresponsibility is to ensure, organize and maintain an accurate and operationalsurgery/endoscopy schedule in the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Will participate and maintain a culture withinThe Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in theService and Behavioral Standards document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, andembrace the principles contained within.
2. Schedules procedures in a timely manner. Oncea request is received the scheduler performs appropriate tasks. Calls insurancecompanies for details; calculating patient responsibility based on information;inform patient of insurance estimate (offer patients' education aroundinsurance process); coordinates any necessary payment plans (working with ASCDirector and Billing and Coding); arranges and communicates any specialrequests for equipment (submit Purchase order for any equipment rental).
3. Manages Records: Updates patient demographicand insurance information in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) as needed; ensuresprior authorizations have been received; communicates status of priorauthorizations with ASC staff. Gathers all necessary forms prior to patients'arrival, this would include outside records, consents, personal and medicalinformation; secures records once procedure complete.
4. Coordinates with staff: for a surgery to proceed successfully,Surgery and Endoscopy Schedulers must coordinate with various staff-includingphysicians, nurses, anesthesia providers, ancillary staff, as well as insurancecompanies and outside providers, when necessary. Communicates any changes in schedules, delays,or unexpected situations with all necessary parties. When an emergent transfer is needed, thisperson will call Emergency personnel; copy records; wait for ambulance atentrance to direct them to the patient.
5. Handles administrative tasks: gatheringpatient details, verifying billing and insurance information, collects paymentsprior to surgery, answers phone calls in a professional and courteous manner. This staff person will also maintain a "howto" manual of processes, including documents from Outside Providers policy andprocedures.
6. Other duties as assigned by the ASC Director.
Education,Licensure and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. One (1) or more years of experience in a customerservice-related industry, required.
3. One (1) or more years of experience in amedical office setting, preferred.
Knowledgeand Skills:
1. Ability to work well with providers, clinical staff,and patients.
2. Ability to work on multiple taskssimultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work,excellent organizational and time management skills.

6. Knowledge of medical terminology andfamiliarity with medical diagnostic procedures, and health care billing andauthorization is required.
