JOB SUMMARY: The Supply Chain Director is responsible for the overall Supply Chain operations, including purchasing, inventory, selection of vendors, and distribution of materials.
EDUCATION:
Associate Degree (required)
Bachelor’s Degree - Business Administration (preferred)
EXPERIENCE:
2-5 years of experience in healthcare (preferred)
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

- Negotiate purchases and service agreements.
- Manages inventory management system within the hospital and follow best practices for Supply Chain.
- Coordinate the reconciliation process for invoices with the A/P clerk when price and quantities do not agree with the PO.
- Reviews daily departmental charges for accuracy.
- Coordinates the standardization of supplies and equipment within the organization.
- Ensure optimal participation in GPO agreements to maximize price savings, rebates, group redistribution and commitments.
- Notify Sr. Director of Accounting of any potential disposals of equipment.
- Maintain in depth knowledge of GPO purchasing program and solid knowledge of other GPO product category programs.
- Have a thorough understanding of how the Supply Chain software works to assist in daily functions as needed.
- Develop and work with department on substitute plans if commodity is unavailable.
- Requests quotes from vendors as needed.
- Orders Capital Equipment after authorized approval.
- Review routine Supply Chain practices to assure that staff are procuring and utilizing appropriate contracts and tiers.
- Oversee the Supply Chain function utilizing acceptable Supply Chain practices.
- Maintains all records and documents pertaining to the purchase of goods and services.
- Responsible for Quality Improvement monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
- Responsible for updating Supply Chain policies and procedures as needed.
- Monitor backorders for trends to decrease backorder numbers.
- Must be self-motivated to complete work in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
- Must utilize independent decision making skills and display a high degree of accuracy in the performance of varied responsibilities.
- Supervises (trains, schedules, assigns work, evaluates performance, recommends pay adjustments, disciplines, recommends discharge) Supply Chain department.
- Orient new leadership team members on Supply Chain policies and practices.
- Maintains an adequate inventory; physical inventory taken April 30th each year.
- Secures the best quality products at the best possible price for the intended purpose and works with departments to obtain specifications.
- Participates in the GPO.
- Record retention in Supply Chain will be done under the approval and guidance of the CFO.
- Observes safety and health hazards.
- Abides by the policies and procedures of the facility; Standards of conduct in the Compliance Plan and participates in ongoing monitoring of activities with respect to compliance.
- Ensure that employee and patient safety is a primary concern in the selection of supplies and equipment.
- Interviews sales people promptly and in a courteous manner.
- Attends and participates in departmental meetings/in-services, BH quality improvement program, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
FINANCIAL: Manage dollars within budged guidelines.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES: Directly supervises employees in the Supply Chain office. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
