Job description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Supply Management Department Mid-Atlantic, Hampton Roads Division of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Supervisory Traffic Management Specialist experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing traffic management specialist work requiring the application of a wide range of traffic and transportation policies, principles, and methodologies in order to plan, assign, and coordinate material movement for an organization to include traffic management, freight classification and rating of shipments. I also have experience leading and advising others in order to resolve complex transportation problems. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Plan and direct transportation operations for the movement of material and equipment via air, rail or truck; 2) Assist in the planning and execution of transportation requests involving in-depth knowledge of specialized handling, specialized equipment and load planning; 3) Determine special service(s) and equipment required for shipment of a wide assortment of commodities, (E.g. ship propellers, aircraft engines, small arms and explosives, hazardous materials, aircraft parts); 4) Collect data, compile statistics, and perform studies in order to assist in the procurement of efficient and economical transportation services; and 5) Resolve issues with carriers.
