Job Title: Supervisor Concessions
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Hours: Full-time; must be available on weekends, holidays, and some evenings.
About the role:
The Concessions Supervisor is responsible for, but not limited to, assisting with employee hiring, training, positive employee engagement, cash control, proper food safety, assisting Concessions Crew Members, and the daily operations of assigned stands. This position reports directly to the Concessions Assistant Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Assisting in supervising concession operation and employees (150 250 employees).
- Supervise daily opening, closing and sanitation procedures. Keeping areas around buildings clean and enforcing uniform policy.
- Train and maintain a reliable workforce with an acceptable customer service attitude.
- Review schedules with Building Supervisors.
- Ensure Building Supervisors and Crew Leads are properly trained on daily paperwork, ordering, operating equipment, preventive maintenance records and inventory and that paperwork is completed and turned in properly.
- Assist Concession Assistant Manager in reviewing proper sales vs. staffing in concession department.
- Be knowledgeable of/and properly train employees on the acceptable procedures for food preparation, portioning and presentation.
- Maintain cash control policy and procedures are followed.
- Monitor compliance of all Food & Safety Handling procedures.
- Monitor compliance of Omahas Henry Doorly Zoo operational guidelines.
- Attending scheduled department meetings.
- Assist Building Supervisors in placing daily Req Forms for their stands.
- Assist Concessions Assistant Manager in maintaining records of product received and transferred to all food & Beverage departments and other zoo departments.
- Assist in maintaining a controlled and secured inventory of quality products for the central concession warehouse.
- Responsible for inventory, cash register training, and new product training.
- Ensure their assigned stands maintain the standards set by the zoo in quality, safety, service, and cleanliness for all employees and customers.
- Supervise Building recycling programs.
- Assist in vending machine operation and portable food carts.
- Cross train to work in all Food &Beverage Departments and Visitor Service areas.
- Assisting at special events in Food & Beverage Department.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One year of experience in food service management.
- Certification of special training is helpful including but not limited to front line supervision, cash handling management, and compliance of health regulations and sanitary standards.
- Serve Safe Certificate required (zoo can facilitate if not currently certified).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Capable of operating and training personnel on Point-of-Sale cash register system.
- Knowledge of restaurant supplies, equipment, and ordering as well as inventory control.
Candidates might be (depending on position) required to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, negative skin tuberculosis test, and possess a valid drivers license with a good history.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Will sometimes work extended/odd hours including weekends, holidays and some night programs.
- Must be able to walk long distances across the zoo.
- Work in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand, sit, kneel, bend, twist, reach above head and climb.
- Will lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds using safe and proper lifting methods.
