AGCS is seeking a Summer Intern to work with our Marine team in our O'Fallon office.

The Marine Underwriting Intern will participate with and contribute to the Inland Marine Underwriting team. The internship program is designed to provide the intern with an opportunity to apply a macro understanding of technology and technological developments in the real world by working side-by-side with our underwriting, claims and support team professionals. The internship will focus on areas such as identification and analysis of new technological developments through the lens of insurance and risk. Interns will participate in a wide range of learning and development opportunities including job shadows, attendance at internal meetings, speaking engagements and events designed to expose the intern to other areas of AGCS.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwriting
  • Identification and analysis of risk. Processing transactions; may include quotations, new business issuance, policy changes & renewals
• Special Projects
  • Will collaborate on a proof of concept for a new product offering or research
  • Will be given other projects that can be completed within the length of the internship
• On the Job Learning
  • Participate in a wide range of learning and development activities focused on immersing the intern into how insurance works and being able to apply a macro understanding of technology and technological developments in the real world by working side by side with underwriting, claims and support team professionals

Key Requirements:

• • Bachelor Degree: Must be a current sophomore pursuing university degree in Business, Economics, Finance, IT, Risk Management or related discipline
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations including a strong working knowledge of Excel and other MS office applications
  • Ability to apply field of study learnings to the internship
  • Knowledge of basic math skills
  • Basic: A self-starter with the ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong oral and written communication

Additional Company Details: The company offers a pay rate of $20 per hour for this internship. This is a Full time 10 week Summer Internship which will begin in early June 2023.
