Job description

This position enjoys the flexibility of working a hybrid schedule of 3 days on site in our Corporate Office in Mason, MI and up to 2 days remote.

 

Dart Container is on the search for a Strategy Project Manager who will plan and manage the implementation of the executive leadership team - sponsored strategic projects, focusing on project results to support business outcomes.  In this role, you will define project schedules and workplans, determine estimated resources and costs, manage the project team and be accountable for project deliverables.  The Strategy Project Manager will also be responsible for continuously improving Strategic Program Management Office (SPMO) methodologies and project processes to drive value and support better business outcomes.

 

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Manage multiple projects directed toward strategic business and other organizational objectives
  • Work with all levels of leadership to create plans for executing approved strategic projects
  • Manage projects by leading the implementation team, focusing on project results while maintaining the required project deliverables
  • Use multiple project management methodologies based on the best approach for each project/effort
  • Maintain flexibility of planning, execution, communication, and leadership to allow teams to function at maximum productivity
  • Work directly with the project sponsor to define project success criteria, manage the uncertainty inherent in large, complex projects and maintain visibility to the expected value of the outcome throughout the project lifecycle
  • Effectively manage project changes, risk/issue mitigation, stakeholder communication and connectivity facilitating escalation when necessary
  • Perform in-depth project post-mortems in conjunction with the Strategy Group to identify systemic process or culture issues that cause project delays and issues.  Make recommendations to be escalated to senior leadership.
  • Provide project management assistance and guidance to project leaders as needed
  • Lead strategic objectives as needed
  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships with project stakeholders at multiple levels and multiple locations vital to the success of the project
  • Provide feedback and suggestions with fact-based analysis and metrics to continuously improve project and portfolio management processes and systems in the SPMO and at Dart
  • Uphold the vision, principles and characteristics of the SPMO with project teams, sponsors, and stakeholders

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of project management experience, OR
    • Associate’s degree and five (5) years of project management experience OR
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience using Microsoft Project, Microsoft Project Server and/or a similar Project Management software
  • Experience using Microsoft Office as communication, tracking, and analysis tools
  • Experience with a range of project management methodologies including an understanding of Waterfall and Agile
  • Superior presentation and communication skills
  • Proven leadership, team management, and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, work teams and leadership as a means to achieve project results
  • Experience leading a team of people to achieve a desired outcome, project or otherwise
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Successful track record of managing large projects
  • Ability to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, frequent ambiguity and multiple competing priorities

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • PMP Certification
