Job Overview:

We are looking for a Strategic Account Executive to join our Sales team. This person will receive guidance and direction from the Regional VP of Sales and the VP of Sales, assists with the implementation of effective marketing/sales plan that will enable the Company to meet defined strategic objectives to ensure growth and maintain profitability.

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years proven truckload sales and/or operations experience.
  • Excellent work history within a sales/marketing/operations environment.
  • Strong computer/presentation skills
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Professional, clean, neat appearance
  • No conviction of felonies, serious crimes or have charges pending. However, a conviction is not an automatic disqualification of employment.
  • Ability to work independently; initiative; self-starter.
  • Ability to integrate and analyze data.
  • Ability to work on confidential matters.
  • Ability to plan and organize workload; flexibility to handle pressure and work with interruptions; and meet deadlines; attention to details.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to effectively implement lower costs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Ability to interact, in a professional manner, with employees, vendors and customers.
  • Ability to secure information from inter department personnel.

Responsibilities:

Account Management

  • Calls on all decision makers and influencers at all shipping/receiving locations to promote growth and profitability in desirable traffic lanes.
  • Works closely with Regional VP of Sales and Vice President of Sales to identify any underlying cost factors that impact profitability and negotiate increases/charges to cover these costs (fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, etc.)
  • Works closely with Vice President of Sales to coordinate all pricing/bid/contract issues to insure understanding and approval.
  • Works closely with Vice President of Sales, customer services representatives and other operational personnel to identify problems or opportunities.

Territory Management

  • Maintains constant awareness of lane balance needs and directs efforts to continuously improve balance in major traffic lanes.
  • Continuously looks for opportunities to upgrade traffic in existing market lanes (balance traffic lanes with customer freight vs. broker freight).
  • Works with Vice President of Sales to assist with collection of past due monies from any delinquent accounts.
  • Works with operations and driver force to ensure shipping/receiving locations have proper directions and nature of freight is "driver friendly".
  • Works with Vice President of Sales to assist with any claims problems/settlements to ensure our interests are protected.
  • Works to reduce empty miles.
  • Stays aware of and proactively plans work schedule to anticipate the unique seasonal demands of selected customers.
  • Travel as needed.

Marketing Function

  • Makes regular co-calls with Vice President of Sales and Regional Vice President of Sales.
  • Coordinates regional sales needs through prospecting, working closely with Regional Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Sales.
  • Continuously looks for marketing publications that will serve as good lead source for prospecting efforts.
  • Continuously attracts freight that will address driver retention issues (attract freight that drivers will want to handle).
  • Works closely with Vice President of Sales to continuously look for new markets/services for development that will enhance core business and improve profitability.
  • Continuously looks for ways to automate processes and use latest technology to partner with customers.
  • Works closely with Vice President-Dedicated Operations in soliciting new dedicated business. Makes co-calls as needed with Vice President-Dedicated Operations to introduce Epes Dedicated and help close projects.

Other Functions

  • Informally poll external and internal customers on "How we are doing" and "How can we improve our processes for better results?"
  • Demonstrates support to the Epes Transport System, LLC Quality Management System and its objectives, as applicable.
  • Maintain professional demeanor in dealing with operations to resolve external customer issues.
  • Foster a positive attitude and exhibit professional behavior at all times in dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.
