Responsibilities
Supervise daily activities of the sterile processing associates to ensure adherence to local policies, procedures, and guidelines/standards from regulatory agencies.
- Oversee decontamination, assembly and sterilization of surgical instruments using Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards.
- Oversee and complete preparation of all case carts as required by following local inventory standards.
- Evaluate and document quality assurance program findings and coaches team toward improving regular audit outcomes. Focuses on productivity standards and quality workflow metrics.
- Conduct hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- One or more of the following required:
- Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
