Supervised by the Surgical Services Unit Charge Nurses and the Director of Surgical Services
Sterile processing national certification required
Supply chain experience preferred, pulling surgical supplies for case load as well as instruments.
Functions and Responsibilities:

>Complies with surgery department policy and procedures
>Complies with staffing assignments

Departmental Duties
> Monitors OR supplies and works with clinical buyer to oversee for outdates and needed supplies for cases.
> Helps establish PAR levels and organization of supplies
> Works with surgical techs, director and buyer to ensure proper supplies available for cases
> Anticipates product needs by monitoring OR schedule and coordinating with the charge nurse and director
> Pulls cases prior to day of surgery with instruments needed to assist with turnover of rooms
> Assist with improvement of turnover of rooms.
> Utilize devise to be available to pull needed supply for surgical room during a surgery when necessary
> Utilizes pick sheet to ensure proper supplies pulled to open, assist with changes and updates for preference cards
> Works in sterile processing as needed to assist with sterilization of instruments.
> Call responsibility for sterile processing
> Keep instrument room organized and rotate

Clinical Duties
- Understands and demonstrates all sterile processing competencies: Washers, sterilizers, biologicals, indicators, storage, tracing of instruments, monthly records, completeness of trays
- Understands and demonstrates sterile supply maintenance- rotation of supplies, ensuring proper handling of supplies
- Understands process in preference cards to pull instruments and supplies
- Demonstrates proper PPE
