Steel Erection Superintendent

Department: Steel Erection DepartmentReports To: Project ManagerFLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary Directs activities of workers concerned with construction of buildings, warehouses, factories, structural steel towers or other construction projects by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1.       Assumes responsibility of organizing, planning and prioritizing worka.        Familiar with supervisory personnel, job activity to be performed, hazard communication program, safety rules and regulations, and emergency action      procedures.b.       Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive instructions.2.       Assumes responsibility of Inspecting equipment, Structures and/ or materiala.        Has practical knowledge of Regulatory Compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department    of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations, CSE, Inc. Rules and Regulations and Site-Specific Rules and Regulations.b.       Responsible for inspecting and insuring quality control (QCI)c.        Assists in set-up and knock-down of cranes, washes and fuels truck upon return to the yard.d.       Performs daily inspection on, equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.e.       Signals crane according to signals from qualified signal person.f.        Assembles/disassembles boom sections according to job parameters and safe operating procedures.g.       Completes defect reports for any deficiencies and returns form to office.h.       Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.i.         Directs Foreman underneath to accomplish building design. j.         Must have thorough understanding of blueprints. k.       Superintendent must know how calculate basic engineering of beam and column loads. l.         Manages multiple crews on a jobsite under CSE standards. m.     Has knowledge of AISC and AWS standards and procedures, as well as OSHA. n.       Completes two-week look-a-heads.  Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages Up to 10 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of Up to 50 employees in the Steel Erection Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Education and/or Experience: Four-year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.                                                 Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Driver's License, must meet CSE, Inc.
