The Staff Development Scientist, Development Science - Microbiology for Beckman Coulter is responsible for developing new and updated assay formulations for our Gold Standard Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST) platform.

You will be a part of the Development Science team, you will initially be reporting to the Director, Development Science who is responsible for the consumable product development and post launch sustaining activities for Microbiology. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Be part of the Development Science team developing new and updated assays used for antimicrobial susceptibility testing as part of a systems platform including interactions between software and instruments.
- Prepare reports and technical presentations
- Lead process improvement and problem-solving activities
- Mentor others with respect to clinical microbiology as it relates to antimicrobial susceptibility testing
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Microbiology, or related discipline with 10+ years of experience OR Masters' Degree with 8+ years of experience in field OR PhD with 4+ years of experience OR PhD with secondary doctorate degree, also related to discipline, with 2 year experience.
- Experience in antimicrobial susceptibility testing
- Experience with an interdisciplinary range of laboratory techniques associated with antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Experience with interactions between microorganisms and antimicrobial agents especially with respect to microbial resistant mechanisms
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Working with breakpoint setting organizations e.g., CLSI and EUCAST
- Clinical application of antimicrobial agents with respect to patient treatment
