Summary This position functions as a Staff Assistant in the office of the Medical Center Director providing administrative support at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in Bronx, New York. Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION This position supports one or more of the senior staff officials responsible for the following program areas: Associate Director, Associate Director for Clinical operations, Chief of Staff and Chief Nurse Executive. Some of the major duties: Works closely with representatives of various administrative support programs in the management of program funds, personnel, supplies, equipment and space Analyzes and prepares reports using various computer software applications Coordinates all communication/meeting/surveys/events/programs for leaders, staff and consultants Provides support and administrative guidance to program areas to include filing/copying/scanning paperwork, preparing folders and documentation, etc. Prepares qualitative data analyzing data utilizing various database Manages office's schedules and day-to-day operations Recommends changes in administrative policies as necessary Participates in quality improvement projects and employee engagement projects Manages a wide variety of internal and external correspondence Reviews and responds to correspondence or routes to the proper staff member Performs other related duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 You may be required to serve a probationary period Subject to background/security investigation Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP) Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP) - See "Additional Information" below for details. Qualifications To qualify for this position you must meet one of the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in the Federal service that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position is: prepares routine reports; assisting with various projects and surveys, coordinating meetings and events; preparing and maintaining records; data analysis; review and respond to correspondence. Applicants must possess excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Successful completion of a master's degree or two (2) full years of graduate level education leading to such a degree in a related field of study that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. OR COMBINATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed progressively higher-level graduate education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level.
