Job Description
POSITION: Staff Accountant
PROGRAM: Administration
POSITION PURPOSE: To work with the CFO by maintaining financial systems and internal controls for Turning Point departments’/staff. Also perform other administrative duties assigned by the CFO.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the CFO, there are no direct reports to the Staff Accountant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Prepares Accounting functions to treatment invoices, including mailing of invoices to
Funding sources; deposits receipts, and records relative entries in the general ledger.
· Maintains general ledger to include the preparation and posting of journal entries,
Accounts analysis and reconciliations.
· Reviews and code employee expense vouchers.
· Maintains Accounts Payable ledger, including matching purchase orders with invoice;
Codes invoices to proper segment of the agency, and issues accounts payable checks.
· Assists external auditors at year end to include preparing schedules, providing
Explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing other necessary
data.
· Prepares analysis of monthly financial statements (actual vs. budget) to the Director of
Finance. Also, assists (as needed) in preparing other financial reports to management,
The Board of Directors, funding sources, and other interested parties.
· Maintains agency fixed asset records and records relative monthly depreciation.
· Performs bank reconciliations monthly, and addresses resulting questions and
Problems.
· Prepares/ submits monthly cash flow projection to the Director of Finance.
HIRING GUDELINES: A.A. degree in Accounting and at least three years of Accounting work experience. Familiarity with computerized accounting software,(preferably, Quick Books Desk Top) and non-profit entity reporting and general accounting principles/practices. New applicants with a history of chemical dependency must provide evidence via three letters from three responsible professionals in the field stating that the applicant has maintained sobriety for a minimum of two years.
Pay range of $50,000 – $53,000.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Perform other duties, as assigned.
· Attend events hosted by Turning Point Inc.
