Sr. System Administrator Lead

We are trying to source Sr. System Administrator Lead for our direct client for a Long - term Position in California. We need Senior administration for implementation and maintenance of the underlying technical architecture, assists with the creation of the technical roadmap, operational implementation and design strategies of technology, the design and implementation of technology standards, technical project management, and other work as required.Fourteen (14) years of progressive experience in a senior level technical capacity for a medium to large organization with a structured IT department.


The Systems Administrator IV monitors, reviews, and approves the Network and System Administrator technical decisions prior to implementation. Incumbents will be proficient in the various systems, networks, and telecommunications theories, architectures, designs, and implementations.


The Systems Administrator IV will have the final technical responsibility, prior to management, for all networking aspects, client-server systems, information security, and disaster recovery strategy. Incumbent may be varied and widely dispersed and requires organization, scheduling, supervision abilities, and may prepare and conduct formal training programs as required.


It will be a Long - Term remote Project but we need only local California candidates…


Essential Functions

· Lead and mentor a team of System Administrators. Provide guidance, training, and support to junior staff members.

· Develop and maintain support for data backup and disaster recovery plans. Test and execute recovery procedures when necessary.

· Install, update, and maintain software applications and hardware components. Coordinate with vendors for procurement and support.

· Monitor system performance and capacity planning. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.

· Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, protocols, and policies. Keep records of changes and updates.

· Ensure systems adhere to relevant industry and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, CPRA, DHCS, NCQA)).

· Stay current with emerging IT trends and technologies. Evaluate and recommend the adoption of new solutions to enhance the organizations IT capabilities.

· Oversee or perform technical support in the administration and maintenance of network hardware, firewalls, network security devices, internet connectivity, VPN, client/server applications, operating systems, telephone systems, and all other related information and office automation systems and networking hardware or software.

· Design, manage and oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all routers, network appliances, layer-2 and layer-3 switches, fiber switches, desktop computers, network and local printers, scanners, and copiers.

· Design, manage and oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the various server solutions and the underlying operating systems for KHS to include the Windows Server operating systems.

· Define KHS internet security using network firewalls, internet content filtering software, intrusion prevention systems, and other current network security techniques using the latest technology.

· Develops and maintains new system and application implementation plans including logical and physical diagrams, inventory of system integration and connectivity, training guides and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.

· Proficient in automation tools and scripting languages such as PowerShell scripting, DevOps, SCCM tasks, etc.

· Review summary data of all WAN and LAN connectivity using network traffic analysis software and firewall logs.

· Manage Microsoft Active Directory for desktop user authentication, group polices, application security, and email distribution lists.

· Install, maintain, and upgrade all KHS client/server application environments to include the operating systems and patch management.

· Install, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot all KHS networking hardware and software to include the IOS upgrades, firewall updates, and internet content filters.

· Administer the corporate messaging systems (Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Lync), secure email, and anti-spam software.

· Administer the corporate VOIP network, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading the VOIP infrastructure, supporting applications, and network hardware.

· Provide strategy and management on all data backups on a disk-to-disk solution in accordance with the KHS Disaster Recovery policy.

· Review and manage all documentation for the physical and logical network, various client/server solutions, disaster recovery efforts, and other areas as needed.

· Monitor and maintain all network and system logs for performance, security, and troubleshooting to include: routers, switches, intrusion detection, VPN access, firewalls, operating systems, backups, client/server applications, and other software or hardware as needed.

· Oversee and manage the KHS virtual server (VM) environment to include provisioning new virtual servers, monitoring of VM and supporting hardware performance.

· Support, maintain, and manage the storage area network (SAN), provisioning storage, maintaining connectivity, and troubleshooting performance issues.

· Create and maintain operating system images and software installation packages for remote desktop and server delivery.

· Lead the IT operations team and assist team members while working on multiple projects meeting project deadlines.

·Provide input for the creation of the IT technology roadmap specifically as it relates to systems and network administration and management.

· Assign, resolve, and review elevated Help Desk incidents, change management requests, or problem tickets.

· Work as, or with, a Project Manager on project cost, resource estimation, tasking, and timely project completion.

· Work and communicate effectively with the various professionals throughout the organization.

· Coordinate, perform, and review educational exercises for other team members or departments in accordance with procedures formulated by the Director of IT.

· Review, write, or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administration tasks.

· Proficiency must be demonstrated with the various Windows, Cisco, and Juniper platforms in architecture, design, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. MCSA, CCNP, or JNCIS-ENT preferred.


Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in a related field (or equivalent experience).

- Extensive experience in System Administration, preferably in a senior or lead role.

- Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, Unix) and virtualization technologies.

- Demonstrably comfortable in a disciplined AGILE environment.

- Proficiency in networking protocols and services.

- Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Security+) are a plus.

- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

- Leadership and mentoring abilities.

- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining documentation.


Employment Standards

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field AND 14 years of progressive experience in a senior level technical capacity for a medium to large organization with a structured IT department.
