Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
· California (Bay Area) - $115,000 - $165,000
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. We’re looking for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with structural, thermal, and/or electrical design experience to join our charging team. If you’re the kind of person who sees a problem, develops a solution, and engineers an improvement no one’s asked for yet, then we want to talk with you!
As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will help develop and commercialize state-of-the-art electric vehicle charging system, such as onboard charger, home charger and DC fast charger. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership for parts of the charging systems, completing every aspect of component engineering development from concept to production.
- Create designs interactively with the design studio, vehicle packaging team and other product engineering inputs, updating designs accordingly.
- Integrate mechanical designs with high voltage electrical systems in a multidisciplinary environment
- Develop the Design for failure modes and effects analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan (DVP)
- Optimize mechanical designs for size, weight, durability, performance and cost
Qualifications:
- 4+ years experience as a major contributor in a fast-paced engineering environment
- A flair for creative design engineering and problem-solving
- Strong 3D CAD skills, proficient with CATIA or similar software
- Hands-on practical experience with shop tools and prototyping
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, die casting, etc
Preferred:
- Experience in automotive product validation (environmental testing, shock/drop, etc)
- Experience with EV charging systems
- Experience with automotive engineering
- Experience with electronic control systems
Education:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree
