POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr Shopper Marketing Manager leads the development, implementation and optimization of in-store retail marketing strategies, tactics, and programs.  The role is responsible for point-of-sale marketing and messaging across a variety of forms in addition to planning and execution. This role will work very closely with commercial development team, distributor sales and national account teams, as well as other cross-functional disciplines within brand marketing.

As the Shopper marketing manager, you will develop best-in-class in-store retail materials that interrupt shoppers and help drive purchase at retail. The role reports into the Head of Essentia Marketing, and is supported by in-store shopper marketing specialist.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Purview will include primarily Essentia, and secondarily international premium water brands (IPW)
    • With goal of growing IPW remit leveraging Essentia best practices
  • Develop strategy and execute regional/national in-store retail programs, based on business goals, priorities and opportunities
  • Partner with commercial development, distributor sales and national account teams to build sales-driving programs based on needs, as well as optimizing asset quantities based on budget
  • Working closely with commercial development, provide clear guidance and training on asset usage and instore merchandising 
  • Monitor asset inventory levels and instore execution to ensure brand compliance
  • Working with brand team and creative, update/maintain execution guidelines and conduct trainings with sales as needed
  • Work closely with digital omni strategist and team to ensure consistent and integrated support
  • For IPW brands, effectively drive alignment on goal and priorities with in-market/US team and (Italian & French) business units
  • Write clearly articulated creative briefs based on program goals and needs
  • Tactically, plan and oversee execution of dealer loader items, hard and soft POS, wearables, and swag
    • Conduct annual survey to garner input from sales team to optimize offering
  • Develop and execute custom retail projects, as needed
  • Collaborate with Omni/Social/Influencer Marketing, Sales Directors, Field Sales, Operations teams to ensure Shopper Marketing programs are tracking and performing as planned
  • Working with commercial development, manage/update sell-in and support materials for retailers and distributors (videos, booklets, toolkits, presentations etc.)
  • Working with sales, develop and execute distributor incentive, and consumer coupon programs
  • Manage and track in-store retail marketing budget
  • Ongoing evaluation of program efficacy and provide recommendation for optimization
  • Complete strategic and detailed analysis on the marketplace and competitive programs, in-market trends across the category with goal of identifying opportunities/white space within instore environment

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years in in-store retail marketing role, including experience in leadership role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the consumer-packaged goods industry in particular premium brands, retail channels and account specific marketing (in store displays, POS/POP at retail)
  • Experience with energy beverage brand and/or international beverage brand a plus
  • Strong knowledge of the retail landscape; National Accounts (FDM Channel), Club, Regional Accounts, Natural, Independent, convenience and more
  • Experience with distributor route-to-market
  • Good grasp of shopper marketing including omni, digital, instore, promotional tactics, process flow, execution, and fulfillment processes - and how they work together
  • Strong leadership especially through ambiguity, demonstrated ability to influence, and proven success galvanizing teams to drive growth in a matrix organization.
  • Self-starter but able to take direction, ability to work both independently and as a team player
  • MBA/Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field
  • Experience and/or passion for working for a fast-paced, high growth premium brand
  • Exceptional follow through, and experience in data performance reporting
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical mindset focused on testing and measuring impact of initiatives and programs
  • Strong collaborative & communication skills
