Job Summary:
CNPC USA is actively seeking creative, innovative, best-in-class experts to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for an electrical/electronics engineer with expertise in downhole electrical package design, testing, telemetry, and product support. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing new electronics products including specifications, development timelines and reports, design reviews, prototype builds, documentation packages, and final tool assembly and testing.
The Senior Electrical Engineer reports directly to the Technical Manager, Completions and Stimulations.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct all business activities in accordance with CNPC USA core values.

· Adheres to and is an advocate of CNPC USA Product Development and Commercialization Process ensuring cross-functional workflow through all phases of stage gate product development process.
· Responsible for developing every aspect of the electronics for downhole products ranging from high sensitivity sensors to the system's firmware, system architecture and wiring diagram, acquisition system design, motor control, power supplies, and signal digitalization.
· Develop new products in accordance with customer or contract requirements from initial concept study to final product qualification testing and support.
· Interface with multi-disciplined team members for electronics packaging and sensor development.
· Research customer design proposals and specifications to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of new designs or applications.
· Modify existing products to incorporate new technologies for functional and reliability improvements.
· Direct testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
· Create Test Procedures and Engineering Test Reports consistent with engineering policies and procedure.
· Participate in project reviews and all activities related to the development of new products.
· Participate and provide input into process improvements for standardization of checklists and guidelines.
· Effectively communicates with project peers and engineering team via e-mail, web meetings, and instant messaging, including status reports and presentation slides.
· Function as an independent resource and technical support contact when appropriate.
Key Skills:
· Candidate is expected to have proficiency with Schematic/PCB Design Tools, Altium Designer preferred.
· 5+ years’ experience with downhole electronics design for use in high temperature/vibration/shock environments, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and troubleshooting.
· Significant experience with firmware design and FPGA design required.
· Hands on electronics prototype design and testing including proficiency with test equipment.
· Knowledge of downhole electronics design rules for analog, digital, and mixed circuit design.
· Knowledge of Linux platform, C programming, and FPGAs.
· Knowledge of downhole power delivery systems, circuit power consumption, and attenuation required. TEC cables and battery selection a plus.
· Understanding of communication protocols and wired telemetry systems used downhole, wireless telemetry a plus.
· Ability to multi-task and adjust to changing schedules and deadlines based on priorities.
· Effective time management, organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
· Proven ability to deliver results on time, on target with quality and sustainability.
· Self-starter and team player with ability to work independently when needed.
· Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering, MS preferred; with minimal 5 years of related experience in electronics design of downhole tools. This position requires hands on experience with high temperature downhole electronics design and testing including component selection, schematics, and PCB layout.

Work Environment:
This job operates mainly in a professional office environment but may also be required to visit or work in a shop environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In addition, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and the ability to lift 20lbs and bend is required.
Travel:
This position may require international and domestic travel. Local travel between CNPC USA locations and testing facilities is required.
