Job Description
The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) is seeking a Senior Budget & Finance Analyst for its Operations and Finance Division. This position will be responsible for assisting in the development of the biennial budget and annual operating plan; monitoring expenditures and making operating plan adjustments; and preparing budget reports.
Responsibilities:
- Review vendor payments and employee expense reimbursements
- Manage account structure for financial accounting system
- Research and reconcile transaction activity to expenditure reports
- Prepare reports and analyses for Vice President of Operations and Finance
- Assist in development of strategic plan and reporting of performance measures
- Assist with management of Tourism Development Financing Program and Virginia Tourism Growth Fund, including reviewing applications and meeting with potential applicants
Skills:
- Working knowledge of Commonwealth budgeting practices, governmental accounting practices and reconciliation techniques and procedures
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Work independently as well as collaboratively within multi-disciplinary team environment
- Work well under pressure in meeting deadlines
- Exhibit sound judgement in making decisions and maintain strict confidentiality on sensitive matters
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures, gather and analyze data, and write brief reports
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting, business administration, public administration, or financial management preferred
- 3-5 years budgeting and financial analysis experience is preferred
- Experience using computerized financial systems
- Proficiency in MS Office suite required
