Sr. Budget & Finance Analyst

The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) is seeking a Senior Budget & Finance Analyst for its Operations and Finance Division. This position will be responsible for assisting in the development of the biennial budget and annual operating plan; monitoring expenditures and making operating plan adjustments; and preparing budget reports.

Responsibilities:

• Review vendor payments and employee expense reimbursements
• Manage account structure for financial accounting system
• Research and reconcile transaction activity to expenditure reports
• Prepare reports and analyses for Vice President of Operations and Finance
• Assist in development of strategic plan and reporting of performance measures
• Assist with management of Tourism Development Financing Program and Virginia Tourism Growth Fund, including reviewing applications and meeting with potential applicants

Skills:

• Working knowledge of Commonwealth budgeting practices, governmental accounting practices and reconciliation techniques and procedures
• Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects

• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills

• Work independently as well as collaboratively within multi-disciplinary team environment
• Work well under pressure in meeting deadlines

• Exhibit sound judgement in making decisions and maintain strict confidentiality on sensitive matters
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures, gather and analyze data, and write brief reports

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting, business administration, public administration, or financial management preferred
• 3-5 years budgeting and financial analysis experience is preferred
• Experience using computerized financial systems
• Proficiency in MS Office suite required
