Tokio Marine HCC - Specialty Group, a member of the Tokio Marine group of companies, is a market leader in providing specialized insurance products for the sports, entertainment, and promotional industries. We provide an unmatched portfolio of products including event cancellation, high limit disability, kidnap and ransom, weather, travel, event liability and much more. We cover major sports and entertainment events, professional athletes and entertainers and other unique assets.
Performance Objectives
During the first 30 days: learn the technology (AS400 and ImageRight) systems, and overall insurance operations and types of risks insured in our office. Learn how to read an insurance policy, confirm coverage, gather needed data as well as learn to set up claims, enter claim payments, etc. Understand the roles held by inside and outside staff involved in the claims process - underwriters, accounting, compliance, outside brokers, Insureds, etc.
During the first 90 days: begin to correspond directly with brokers and Insureds. Handle straight forward claims. Enter payments and send checks on payable claims. Begin to develop the critical thinking skills needed to handle assigned claims independently.
By the end of the first 6 months: take ownership of the assigned claim programs and handle a claims caseload. Advise management of any claims that escalate, involve complaints or that need approval from outside carrier or TMHCC corporate office. Work with management to develop claim handling strategies on any disputed claims.
Independently handle claims: One of the major objectives of this position is to handle claims, eventually independently, from first report to conclusion and to assist senior claims staff as needed with set up of claims, paying bills, special projects, etc.

Your Background
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- This is an entry-level position; internship(s) in business or a related area highly desired.
- Critical thinking skills which translate into problem solving skills.
- Willing to go the extra mile, and willing to put in the extra time as needed to succeed.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
