Position Overview

This individual is responsible for leading the manufacturing engineering department in the development and implementation of business strategies to maintain and improve overall operations. In this hands-on role, this person will execute Lean manufacturing tactics to support the production floor, manufacturing equipment, supply chain, and new product development for the business unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Lead and assist with Continuous Improvement/Kaizen activities that reduce cost, cycle time, and lead time while increasing safety, quality, and repeatability.
  • Drive operational improvements to maximize the utilization of resources while supporting productivity cost savings measures and the value of our capital investments.
  • Coordinate with finance for budget setting and monitor appropriate metrics to achieve budget targets as it relates to cost, productivity, capital spending, and absorption.
  • Oversee the evaluation and execution of time studies to establish engineering labor standards and routings.
  • Maintain standard work documents and Overall Equipment Effectiveness for new and existing manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Lead projects and teams to effectively initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close projects.
  • Coach, Train, and develop manufacturing engineering team to establish and ensure achievement of goals.
  • Manage capital projects from start to completion including writing AFEs (Authorization For Expenditure).
  • Maintain production equipment reliability by coordinating maintenance and repair services.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs while estimating future requirements.
  • Support the needs of tooling for casting and oversee the facilities requirements for machining tools and fixturing.


Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience in a production environment.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers preferred
  • Time Study and labor standards experience.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Work Center and facility layout optimization experience desired.
  • Hands on, driven, results-oriented, self-starter with strong change organizational skills that enjoys leading diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks and projects and be detail oriented.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written & verbal) at all levels of operational and professional staff
  • Excellent analytical, planning, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understanding of tool & fixture design
  • Lean tool experience required with Green/Black belt a plus
  • Strong in computer proficiency (MS Excel, Word, Power Point, & Teams).
  • AutoCAD and Inventor experience preferred
  • ERP system (SAP) experience preferred.
  • Must be able to stand/walk 10-90% of workday.
  • Occasional lifting required (up to 35 lbs.).
  • 10% - 20% Travel

Bachelors Degree in Engineering General
