Great Prairie Area Education Agency has an opening for a Special Education Learning Consultant - Social Emotional Behavior Health (SEBH) Emphasis.
192-day contract (plus 2 orientation days initial year) beginning with the 2023-2024 school year.

Position will serve All Regions: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Region 1: Albia, Centerville, Chariton, Moravia, Seymour, Wayne.
Region 2: Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont, Keota, North Mahaska, Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa Christian, Pekin, Sigourney, Tri-County.
Region 3: Cardinal, Davis County, Moulton-Udell, Ottumwa, Ottumwa Christian and Seton Catholic.
Region 4: Fairfield, Maharishi, Mediapolis, Morning Sun, Mt. Pleasant, WACO, Wapello and Winfield-Mt. Union.
Region 5: Burlington, Burlington Notre-Dame, Danville, New London, and West Burlington.
Region 6: Central Lee, Fort Madison, Holy Trinity Catholic, Keokuk, Keokuk Catholic, and Van Buren County.
Position Overview:
The Special Education Professional Learning Consultant will collaborate with the Director to develop the agency vision for a Multi-Tiered System of Support for SEBH (MTSS-SEBH) and will assist in the development and implementation of the system. The consultant will provide leadership, organization, and coordination in developing, delivering, and evaluating SEBH professional learning efforts related to SEBH.
Qualifications:
- Appropriately licensed/certified by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
- Master's level of professional training in the field of education.
- Experience organizing, planning, and facilitating professional development.
- Understanding of MTSS-SEBH and the connection to special education.
- Experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, cooperative teamwork, and excellent written and verbal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development of the agency vision for SEBH and a continuum of SEBH services and supports.
- Plan, develop, deliver and evaluate professional learning opportunities to support the implementation of a MTSS for SEBH.
- Design and implement professional learning activities intended to build the internal capacity of AEA staff to support the implementation of a MTSS for SEBH and specially designed instruction for SEBH.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and consultative services to local district staff and AEA staff on the implementation of the MTSS Framework.
- Provide job-embedded professional learning, technical support, and coaching to LEA and/or AEA staff in support of their implementation of SEBH in order to enhance skills and build independence.
- Manage and maintain accurate data regarding the implementation and efficacy of SEBH professional learning activities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current research and best practices in SEBH, have the ability to translate research into practice and pursue further professional growth in new and innovative areas of SEBH and mental health services in schools.
- Serve as a resource to AEA staff, local educators and administrators.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop relationships within the AEA, districts, community partnerships and at the state level.
- Attend agency, regional, and state meetings as a representative of the agency and provide leadership for implementation of statewide efforts within the agency.
- Demonstrate ability to organize and manage multiple projects, activities, and deadlines.
- Effectively use technology to enhance the teaching and learning process and daily work.
