Overview

Sonographer - Fetal Medicine

 

Schedules, and performs independent sonographic images of maternal-fetal conditions, in a timely fashion, while demonstrating the appropriate knowledge and skills necessary.  Follows physician's instructions, prepares and operates equipment and positions patients correctly in order to record the requested diagnostic images.

 

Schedule: (Full time, Benefits Eligible)

Shift: Monday to Friday - 8 am to 5 pm - No weekends, no holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning
  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images
  • Thoroughly understand the operation of the ultrasound machine and utilize new technologies.
  • Self-motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the sonography field.

  • Assists when necessary with the maintenance of accreditation requirements and processes.
  • Reports and calls in-service requests on equipment when needed
  • Ability to make knowledgeable clinical assessments and judgments
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

 

Education:

  • Satisfactory completion of an accredited ultrasound training program to include registry.

Licensure:

  • ARDMS- OB-GYN, and Within 2 years: pediatric echo (PE), fetal echo (FE)

Skills:

  • Communication, organizational; interpersonal relations; Independent problem solving. 

Certification:

  • NT; NB;  BLS;  *May obtain within 6 months of hire date.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years progressively responsible experience in OB high risk or MFM setting.

  • Preferred 1 year progressively responsible experience performing pediatric and maternal fetal echocardiography or willingness to acquire PE, and FE registry within 2 years from hire date.
