This is a fully remote position for candidates who reside in the State of Texas.
Responsible for provisioning, deploying, administering, monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading and patching of Information Technology resources and services. Document complex processes, procedures, system configurations and specifications. Exhibits strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills with the capability to acquire, retain and leverage advanced technical competencies. Able to independently and collaboratively coalesce design specifications, manage and develop stable, best practice, environment specific enterprise class solutions.
Provide second-tier support and assistance for faculty and staff related to technology systems within the School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology (AHT); maintain and troubleshoot any issues with software systems and related technology, working with OIT and/or other AHT Technology Resources staff as required, ensure all systems and software applications are running properly and all software and system issues are resolved in a timely fashion. Provide timely communication with other support staff (AHT, OIT, OR).
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree with four (4) years related experience OR Associate degree with six (6) related experience OR High School or equivalent with eight (8) years related experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop software systems, tools and applications in support of instruction, administration, and in some cases research, for the School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology. Participate in AHT-wide code reviews and software design efforts and use software development life cycle development processes as determined for each project. HPC cluster knowledge and administration desired.
Build image(s) for instructional and research workstations and servers. Work with OIT to ensure images are deployed and updated and secure. Work with faculty to determine versions needed for instructional labs and manage 3rd party software installation and support including license servers and other related technology (e.g. Maya, Houdini, Nuke). Provide interface with vendors sales and support organizations. Where possible automate and streamline processes using configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt. Enterprise storage and ACL knowledge a plus. Server Firmware patching and OS (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) patching as required.
Ensure currency and consistency of technical resources/services documentation; makes sure software and systems documentation and FAQs are completed and up-to-date for internal (technical staff) use as well as external (AHT faculty, staff and student) use. Provide recommendations for best practices in ITSM; assist with recommendations for technology-related purchases.
