Apply Now Job Summary Reporting to the Assistant Town Manager, the Small Business Solutions Manager is primarily responsible for networking and assisting the Town of Christiansburg with small business efforts, encouraging business investments, and being a resource to small business owners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Works with small businesses to develop strategies that will allow businesses to succeed Provide recommendations for business and process improvements Acts as liaison with the Montgomery County Economic Development Authority, Roanoke Regional Small Business Development Corporation, and other local economic development agencies to provide services for small businesses Tracks all available commercial and industrial properties in the Town, including contacts for the properties and descriptions Supports the Town's small business recruitment and retention efforts Attends and participates in local, regional, and state meetings that deal with small business development Attends conferences and seminars to increase knowledge of Economic Development and small business efforts Keeps data on local businesses and supports shop small business efforts Supports Main Street development in the Town Assists with preparation of annual budgets Performs other duties as assigned Job Responsibilities JOB REQUIREMENTS Education and experience Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, or related field, or equivalent education, training, and experience Prior experience working with small businesses and government agencies Proficient with Microsoft Office Detail-oriented with strong project management and prioritization skills Licenses and Certifications Valid Virginia driver's license with the ability to meet/maintain Town insurability requirements Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) certification preferred but not required
