Summary

The position is primarily responsible for receiving products, preparing products for shipment, staging material in their correct areas and scheduling transportation to the customer. Any additional transportation requirements will also be handled by this position as well. The candidate is also responsible for maintaining and organizing the inventory of service parts and assigning inventory items to correct bin locations and work orders for job completion.

What you'll do

  • Responsible for contracting, coordinating and supervising inbound and outbound material shipments.
  • Interface with various customs brokers on clearance and classification issues to ensure that U.S. Customs procedures are maintained and improved.
  • Receive inbound shipments to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Accountable for the organization of storage and inventory areas according to production and shipping needs.
  • Maintain service parts inventory items for use in internal work order assemblies.
  • Validate and update product inventory by comparing reports in order to maintain an accurate inventory database.
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment to achieve the daily tasks.
  • Coordinate transportation from the warehouse to SMS customers.
  • Package parts appropriately for shipping (i.e. envelopes, boxes and crates).
  • Provide documentation for outbound shipments and complete appropriate forms to ensure products are delivered on time.
  • On occasion complete parts inspections & related paperwork as needed.
  • On occasion to perform mechanical inspection of machine parts to verify accuracy against drawings. Utilize precision measurement tools (i.e. mics, calipers and gauges) in order to verify if machined parts are within drawing tolerances.
  • Document machining discrepancies by filing non-conformance reports and work with the purchasing and engineering departments to work towards a resolution.
  • Resolving any additional issues as they arise with the appropriate SMS personnel.
  • Maintain an organized layout and safe work environment

What you'll need

  • Two years of receiving experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of and proficient in Incoterms 2020
  • Two (2) years of working experience with 3rd party logistics providers.
  • UPS and FedEx logistics use and knowledge.
  • MS Office experience (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience using an ERP system.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to speak effectively to vendors or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Excellent time management abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task in order to handle multiple assignments and job requirements at one time.
  • Data entry and documentation within inventory database are
  • Some familiarity with reading and understand mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently inspect machined parts and identifying defects prior to shipment to customer.
  • Some proficiency with precision measuring devices (mics, calipers, gauges, etc.).
  • Technical background with familiarity in steel machining operations is a plus but not necessity
  • Capable of working in an industrial environment.
  • Self-motivated, result oriented and dependable person with exceptional organizational skills.
  • College or Technical degree a plus.
