Job Summary:
The Shift Manager is a key role within our field operations. The Shift Manager should act as a mentor and positive role model to all employees. Primary duties include oversight and direct supervision of field crews and conflict resolution. The Shift Manager will partner with various other departments such as Scheduling, Dispatch and Human Resources. Additionally, the Shift Manager will interface with hospitals and medical facilities. This is a versatile role requiring flexibility and sound judgement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervises all crew members and acts a role model; Always portrays a positive company image
- Handles customer complaints and works with the local hospitals and facilities; responds to any escalated issues with patient care, response time and other company items
- Mentor employees through example and teachable moments when appropriate
- Responds to incidents related to crew issues including vehicle accidents and assisting crews with patient care; Responsible for reviewing, accurate field paperwork including vehicle accident incidents
- Reports all training and/or safety issues to the Operations Manager
- Possess a strong working knowledge of all county policies and protocols
- Works with the Fleet Department to ensure proper vehicle safety
- Attends all assigned meetings
- Participates in corrective action plans for field crew members by collaborating with the Operations Manager and/or HR
- Performs random Patient Care Report audits
- Maintains current industry standards through continuing education
- All other duties assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-year field experience
- Valid and clear FL State Paramedic License
- Ability to operate as CAS Paramedic
- Maintain a CAS vent certification
- Maintain CAS FTO status
- Knowledge of EMS agency rules, regulations, and protocols.
- Possess Incident Command Structure courses 100, 200, 700, 800
- Solid working knowledge of all Company operations policies and protocols
- Intermediate level with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiar with the geographic region
- AS or AA degree
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paramedic
- Certified Critical Care Paramedic
- IS 300 and 400 certifications
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform the following tasks:
- Walk - frequently, up to 4 hours per day
- Run - infrequently, 1-2 minutes per day
- Stand - frequently, up to 2 hours per day
- Sit - frequently, up to 12 hours per day
- Kneel - frequently, 10-15 times per day
- Bend - frequently, 10-15 times per day
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry:
- 250 lbs. infrequently (1-6 times per shift)
- 150 lbs. frequently (8-16 times per shift)
Must have the ability to step up and/ or climb over obstacles Must be able to climb stairs while carrying up to 150 lbs. Must have adequate hearing acuity to perform job tasks (as delineated in Florida Statutes 322.12 and 322.221, F.S. - License Examinations) Must have adequate vision (with corrective lenses if needed) to clearly distinguish colors, shapes, distances, etc. (as delineated in Florida Statutes 322.12 and 322.221, F.S. - License Examinations) Must have adequate hand and finger dexterity to grip and hold both large and small items Must have adequate hand and arm strength to grip and lift heavy objects Must be able to tolerate work in an outdoor environment (heat, cold, rain, etc.) and indoor environment (office setting)
