Sewing Lead - 2nd Shift

Position Summary:

The Stitcher/Sewer Lead provides guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to a specified shift in the sewing department of Soft Signage.

Shift: M-F 2:30pm - 11:00pm (2nd Shift)

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Must perform the following duties with minimal outside involvement:

• Sewing experience preferred, otherwise training will be provided to operate a variety of different sewing machines, including straight stitch, sergers, double needle and walking foot machines. Up to 50% of daily responsibilities will require operating a sewing machine. Other responsibilities include administrative tasks, set up of jobs, and assigning work to full time and temporary workers.
• Assists the Sewing Supervisor in ensuring that daily work assignments are completed for on time delivery, in addition to maintaining cleanliness in the department.
• Ensures completed jobs meet company quality standards.
• Assists with questions related to work instructions and provides direction where needed.
• Performs simple adjustments and preventative maintenance on sewing equipment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to manage employee relations in an appropriate, respectful, and professional manner.
• Assists with training as needed.
• Tape, sew, stitch grommet, and test-fit finished fabric pieces.
• Follows all safety protocols.
• Works overtime as needed.
• Performs other duties as requested.

Mandatory Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent and previous experience in the sewing industry preferred.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic measuring skills in both Standard and Metric units.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to manage work in a fast paced and quality-focused environment.
• Experience in the printing industry is preferred.
• Experience on industrial sewing machines preferred.
• Team oriented with a focus on collaboration.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent reaching, bending, standing, and sitting.
• Manual dexterity.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
