Service Technician Ii (Commercial Security Systems)

Who you are:

MP's client is looking to bring on an experienced Service Technician II to their growing team. MP's client is a group of dedicated and multi-faceted individuals who are self-motivated and are excited to be a part of a company who continues to grow within the industry. This is a technical role who has the overall responsibility to repair, program and inspect existing Security Systems of basic to high complexity. This position requires a thorough understanding of basic electronics, wiring circuits, basic troubleshooting methods, and a good understanding of basic test equipment use. Preferred candidates should have prior installation or comparable experience.

What you will be doing:

• Perform repairs, service, inspection and programming of basic to high complexity systems
• Perform routine scheduled system inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, general break fix calls
• Perform light installations as required for small add-ons or deletions
• Perform system removals as required
• Follow and/or adapt proper schematic wiring diagrams and termination procedures.
• Participate in scheduled customer reach out blitzes, targeted upgrade initiatives and service generating programs
• Test operation of system to confirm compliance to the original scope of work, 100% functionality and customers satisfaction.
• Mark up as-built drawings, system documentation and device schedules to keep internal documentation current with changes
• Ensure that trouble tickets are completed with time logs entered and customer facing comments logged in a timely manner.
• Assist PMs and Installation technicians with IT coordination and implementation.
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, avoids damage to property, track truck stock materials to prevent loss, and clean-up debris and work areas.
• Interface and update operations manager or project managers with service job status and small project issues.
• On-Call responsibilities
• Assist Project managers with system commissioning support and final documentation as needed.
• Overnight stay and travel while performing duties at remote job locations and job training when required.

• 5-9 Years direct industry experience
• Advanced understanding of installation methods, troubleshooting methods, best practices, and procedures.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical diagrams
• Thorough understanding of field test equipment and special tools i.e. multimeter, cable tester, fiber kit etc.
• Thorough understanding of Building code, Life Safety code an NEC
• Advanced understanding of IP networks
• Good knowledge of electrified door hardware and hardware installation
• Advanced understanding of basic network troubleshooting
• Advanced understanding of electronic security technology and system design
• Ability to work independently or with a field crew
• Ability to use basic office software such as NetSuite, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
• Possession of valid state issued driver's license.
• Meet State qualifications alarm licensing and electronics security personnel as required.
