Job description

Title: SVP, Strategic Initiatives - Futures

Level: SVP

Group: Futures

Description: Market Visibility, Operations, Senior Project Leadership

Futures is the Media Lab at Weber Shandwick.

As the pace of change hastens, we must close the growing gap between how the public and companies communicate. Futures is how we do just that. It is instrumental in driving innovative client strategies and programs.

This group is focused on understanding new tech - and its implications for marketers and communicators - and designing programs to apply this intel in game-changing ways. Today - not five years from now.

We're hiring for a new team member, a commercially-minded collaborator, organizer and maker to join our leadership team. It's a critically important role as we scale Futures to deliver for more forward-thinking clients. Our new colleague will:

  • Articulate, package and market IP and service propositions
  • Manage priority projects, including new business pursuits, culture-building around Futures work, education initiatives, external platforms
  • Showcase first-of-their-kind technology applications
  • Cultivate and activate existing partnerships to maximize impact (growth + visibility)
  • Identify and help vet new potential collaborations
  • Support talent programs central to our innovative work
  • Report to the EVP, Futures, working closely with the Chief Innovation Officer + Chair, Futures.

All Futures programming, including this new leader's projects, will reflect the team's invention orientation.

This individual must be solution-focused, an owner of deadlines, a strategic planner, concise writer and workplan wizard. The SVP, Strategic Initiatives - Futures will be an advancer-of-projects, an asker-of-hard-questions, skilled in executing specific tasks personally, and leading/collaborating with teams to deliver on others. (Some days it's senior strategy, other days it's in-the-weeds execution.)

It's an exciting time as Futures work is central to the firm's agenda, and ours is a legit collaborative team.

A few considerations for applicants:

  • Do you want to help shape the future of modern marketing for Fortune 100 clients?
  • Are you more boundary-pusher than status quo?
  • Are you intrigued by the crazy-fast pace of the media landscape and what that means for communicators? (And all of us as citizens?)
  • Are you excel in environments with a combo of established priorities, hard deadlines, and a healthy dose of impromptu assignments?
  • Are you experienced applying rigor to a team's pursuits and activities to help ensure it remains aligned, focused, productive, even amidst evolving needs?
  • Are you comfortable leading strategic workstreams, tackling some admin-but-essential tasks and everything in-between?
  • Are you a reader of Wired, WaPo, a16z. Curious about all things AI, media, misinfo and meme culture? A trier of new platforms, apps and approaches?

If so, then let's talk.

The Weber Shandwick Collective recognizes that your health and wellbeing are a priority. This is why we offer a full suite of benefits including:

  • Medical
  • Dental
  • Vision
  • 401k (with employer match)
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Juice Money - $60 monthly reimbursement to be used towards purchases that nourish your health, mind, body, and soul
  • MyDays - Flexible holiday schedules
  • Short-Term Disability
  • Paid Employee Family Leave
  • Family Building Benefit

Weber Shandwick is proud to be an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. Weber Shandwick recruits qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, gender, age, ethnic or national origin, protected veteran status, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status or citizenship status.

NYC Salary range: $160,000 - $225,000

Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee's/applicant's background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
