Senior Unity Engineer

This role is part of our Central Technology team, which pushes technological advancements across multiple game teams in the company. You’ll be working on solutions for challenging problems in our Unity ecosystem, working “under the hood” to facilitate the successful live operations of multiple games. You’ll be instrumental in advancing tech initiatives for our client tech stack, including engine enhancements, asset delivery and tooling.

This role will be located onsite in our Austin, TX studio.

SciPlay currently offers nine core games, including social casino games Jackpot Party Casino, Gold Fish Casino Slots, Hot Shot Casino and Quick Hit Slots, and casual games MONOPOLY Slots, Bingo Showdown, 88 Fortunes Slots, Backgammon Live, and Solitaire Pet Adventure with offices all over the world!

Responsibilities

• Work closely with other engineers and teams to understand and solve complex architectural issues
• Maintain and extend common tool frameworks
• Proactively identify issues and fix bugs
• Identify and refactor problematic areas of the codebase
• Perform code reviews for fellow engineers
• Mentor junior engineers and assist them with feature development and debugging
• Participate in on-site interviews with engineering candidates

Required Experience

• 8+ years of software development experience
• Experience writing and debugging in a statically typed language like C#, C++ or Java
• Strong problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
• Experience with modern version control systems like Git
• Strong communication skills
• Development experience with a popular game engine like Unity or Unreal
• Experience with large code bases and optimizing code, data, and bandwidth to improve both memory consumption and execution speed
• Strong organizational and communications skills along with the understanding of production values, deadlines and priorities
• Professional experience working in an Agile/Scrum/Kanban environment

Nice to Have

• Social/Mobile game development
• Prior professional experience as a respected engineer on a game team
• Experience with full stack, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript and React
• Experience with cloud development (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
