LinQuest seeking a Systems Engineer with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) skills to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO, or in Albuquerque, NM. An active TS/SCI clearance is required.
The selected candidate will support the Air Force Research Lab's Space Vehicles modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) Studies team to drive simulation-based, mission-level analysis initiatives. Qualified individuals should have a background in modeling and simulation, systems engineering, operations research, plus experience with space systems and mission areas, such as satellite communications, positioning, navigation and timing, domain awareness, and missile warning.
Responsibilities:
- Support the design and development of complex space-based architecture trade studies
- Create and extend system models using existing requirements, interface documentation, and related design and systems engineering documents
- Enable mission-level modeling, simulation and analysis by defining and structuring MBSE elements and data flow
- Support system-level integration, verification, and validation activities
- Help define and analyze satellite missions and evaluating mission capabilities/performance for various scenarios and vignettes
- Be proficient at framing conceptual challenges, developing and documenting methodologies to model, simulate, and analyze those challenges
- Communicate (both written and verbal) clear insights and observations based on complex analytical models and technical data interpretation to senior-level leadership and external customers
- Collaborate with a range of organizations and customers to obtain necessary authoritative data, analytic techniques, and assumptions so that results from the above activities remain consistent with the general OSD analytic community
- Demonstrate technical ownership and accountability
- Provide MBSE and SysML or UML expertise and related support to the MS&A studies team
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Math or Science
- 6+ years of demonstrated systems engineering experience with space, ground, operations, and sustainment segments of DoD (OR a Masters Degree plus 2 years of experience)
- Ability to learn SysML
- Familiarity with the DoDAF and UAF frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of systems engineering and integration activities, with special emphasis on space enterprise architecture development and IT Infrastructure
- Hands-on technical drive and accountability
- Collaborates well with a diverse group of skill sets and backgrounds
- High motivation, creativity, and flexibility to work in a dynamic environment
- Excellent communicator
- An active TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Skills:
- Proficient with Cameo and/or SparxEA applications
- Familiarly with Space operations and weapon systems
- Experience with agile development processes
- Knowledge of orbital mechanics and astrodynamics
- Statistical techniques for approaching complex problems with large amounts of data
- Application of operations research techniques and supporting skills such as database query languages, design of experiment and response surface methodologies, scripting language programming, and development of appropriate models and simulations
Compensation:
- Starting salary ranges from approximately $105,000 - $120,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
