We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team. You will be a key technical leader on our automation team, helping to guide and implement control software for a completely new manufacturing process. We’re looking for someone with industry experience building, scaling and maintaining complex software systems, and someone who is excited about the risks and rewards of joining an early-stage startup.

What we’re building

We’ve developed a proprietary and patent-pending technology at the crossroads of 3D printing and automated textile manufacturing. By skipping the flat 2D fabric stage, we can additively build custom apparel products from the ground up- straight from yarn to final product. About you

You enjoy designing, implementing, and testing C++ platform code. You love becoming an expert in your problem domain, and get excited by simple and elegant solutions. You are curious about working with embedded systems, bonus if you've done some embedded development. You enjoy learning new technology and have plenty of cool projects to talk about. You’re fascinated with the intersection of art and engineering. Continuous learning (& sharing that knowledge with teammates) is a fundamental part of who you are.

What you’ll do

• Create an agile software development platform that will run on both embedded and Linux targets.
• Develop production ready software to interface with unspun’s apparel manufacturing technology.
• Support rapid prototyping projects that accrue to the next version of unspun’s apparel manufacturing technology.
• Translate requirements into executable tasks for yourself and the firmware team.
• Find ways to make the codebase better (removing tech debt, adding debugging or logging tools, increasing test coverage, improving toolchains and build times).
• Contribute outside of your field, participating in design reviews, building user interfaces, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Professional experience building, scaling and maintaining complex software systems
• Experience working with platform (shared) software libraries
• A strong background in software engineering with modern C++
• Demonstrated ability to solve challenges which span a breadth of technology areas
• Excellent Linux system programming skills
• Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills

Bonus:

• Experience developing embedded software
• Experience with robotics
