Position Summary
Leads medicinal chemistry programs and will be responsible for the design and synthesis of target molecules and the analysis of associated biological and ADME data. This work is directed towards testing programspecific hypotheses to efficiently advance complex research projects from early target validation / lead identification through animal proof of concept studies.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides scientific expertise on drug discovery research programs, working in collaboration with academic institution groups and CRO partners.
- Formulates, then executes on program and chemistry strategy by applying medicinal chemistry expertise to design compounds to deliver on program objectives.
- Uses medicinal chemistry expertise to manage CRO based chemistry and/or synthesize target compounds.
- Supports novel research programs across diverse stages ranging from target validation, hit-to-lead and lead optimization through preclinical proof-of-concept studies.
- Working with director support, may lead multiple projects.
- Provides progress reports and presents project updates at both internal and collaborator team meetings.
- May supervise several junior lab-based scientists.
- Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, timeline management, identification of project risks, contingency planning and other activities associated with research programs.

Education
- PhD
Experience
PhD in chemistry, chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, or equivalent and at least five years of small molecule drug discovery experience in industry.
Will consider BS/ MS with at least 20 years of experience including significant project leadership roles.
Extensive synthetic chemistry experience required, with chemical biology experience preferred.
An established track record of solving medicinal chemistry problems.
Demonstrated publication track record.
