Position Summary:

The Senior Radio Control Tech is a member of the Service/Tech team within the Hobby Radio Control division. Primary responsibility will be helping customers identify and resolve problems with their Futaba Hobby equipment by communicating with the customer using actual hobby Radio Control experience/product knowledge in order to promote sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist customers in identifying and resolving problems with their Futaba hobby products by phone, e-mail, or in person.
2. Guide customers through the installation and updating of software and hardware.
3. Assist with customer equipment repair, parts sales and technical support calls.
4. Works closely with customer support to provide answers and updates on customer questions related to products.
5. Escalates complex problems to the appropriate team member or department.
6. Report common questions and/or problems regarding product use to help improve instruction manuals and design.
7. Train and assist other technical support team members on product and customer support.
8. Assist with editing English instruction manuals based on common phone calls and tech questions.
9. Work with Team Coordinators to utilize their expertise and experiences on product usage.
10. Maintain working knowledge on current market trends and different uses of hobby products.
11. Occasional travel to large events to assist with questions and product demonstrations.
12. All other duties as assigned by management to ensure the success of Futaba.

Experience and Educational Requirements:

1. Associate degree or 2-year degree equivalent in a related field preferred; High School Diploma/GED required.

2. 5 years related to direct experience in the hobby Radio Control business/industry required; or equivalent combination of education and experience and active hobbyist.

3. 1-3 years soldering experience preferred.

4. Intermediate MS Office skills, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, are required.

5. Amateur (HAM) radio license preferred.

6. Active AMA membership with ability to obtain FAA small USA certificate

2. Strong verbal communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
3. Reasoning skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to manage complex array of projects with multiple partners in a fast-paced environment.
4. Ability to work in a team environment.
