How you'll make an impact:
This position will provide technical leadership and expertise for the technical roadmap and implementation for wireless connectivity required to ensure delivery of SiriusXM's 360L (satellite & terrestrial IP) automotive streaming services through commercial and partner networks. This person will have strong technical skills and work cross functionally with internal stakeholders, automotive OEMs, and wireless / technology partners to develop business models that achieve the best outcome for our subscribers, OEM partners, and SiriusXM business. The ideal candidate will have experience in the wireless industry, automotive connectivity, and managing cross functional projects.
What you'll do:
This position is initially and individual contributor, but will need to align and manage cross functional projects and activities.
Develop and execute on wireless roadmap that ensures our subscribers have connectivity in-vehicle for SiriusXM services, at the best performance and cost.
Define and negotiate technical specifications.
Verify operational aspects of wireless systems perform as expected - functionality, data consumption, reporting, etc.
Provide systems engineering for major, cross-functional projects.
Provide system engineering support for projects to design, test, specify and document various system engineering tasks and projects.
Review and support Implementation of tests and analytical simulations of various existing and next generation SiriusXM systems.
Characterize and support requirements definition, design, and validation of various parts of the service delivery network.
Responsible for working with a cross functional team to define all aspects of end-to-end program, project life cycle, and architecture for various system initiatives.
Work with individual group architects / engineers to define and document enterprise architecture leading to requirements that meet business needs for eventual business prioritization of requirements with stakeholders.
Serve as part of a team on the specification, installation and test of systems associated with the configuration, operations, and network management of the Sirius XM service complex.
Work closely with business owners on the foundational business requirements, development and test of application software, server / cloud based systems, and hardware used in the SiriusXM target systems
Develop documentation including high level architectures, lifecycle flows, and feature-based data flows for projects as needed.
Serve as a subject matter expert on wireless network services and systems.
Maintain a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and systems.
Moderate travel is required, within the US and Canada, and infrequent international travel.
What you'll need:
Minimum Bachelor level degree in engineering or information systems from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
Experience with managing employees and in particular systems engineering resources is preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in the wireless networking industry, including technical design and contract development.
Automotive / connected vehicle (telematics) and infotainment experience is preferred
Experience with edge computing and content delivery is preferred.
Knowledge of wireless industry technology; current and future trends, including 4G, 5G networks
Knowledge of IT hardware architecture components including servers, networking components, architectures, and related techniques.
Working knowledge of Edge and Cloud computing
Knowledge of media streaming protocols and technology
Good understanding of networking including TCP/IP protocol, routing, and firewall operations.
Proficient in modern office administration and technical documentation toolsets (Microsoft, Google, etc.)
Proven ability to work independently and lead or work in a team environment
Good public speaking and presentation skills
Have solid interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to project a professional image over the phone and in person
Commitment to customer focus and customer service principles
Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects
Excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to details
