Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Senior Planner with demonstrated knowledge of engineering and construction industry best practices and current software (Primavera P6) to join our Los Angeles team in a growing water/wastewater business. The position will be responsible for developing conceptual schedules for large, long-term municipal programs as part of the owner's team, reviewing contractor schedules and baseline performance. In addition, the senior planner will develop or consolidate and manage resource-loaded (wk hours) integrated master schedules. The role will be based in the corporate PMO group, however, may be deployed on several key programs within the US. The senior planner will report to both the Manager of Project Controls and the project leadership along with coordinating directly with contractors, consultants, and our clients.
This position is 100% in office.
Detailed Description:
The Senior Planner will lead scheduling and execution planning activities representing the owner on several critical large-scale programs in schedule development, integration, control, and performance reporting on projects in various stages of development and delivery in multiple locations and with multiple clients. The projects are complex in nature and will require coordination with participating consultants and contractors providing engineering and construction services. The master schedules will be managed in Primavera based on schedules provided by contractors and consultants in Primavera or MS Project depending on scope and contractor/consultant capabilities. Detailed responsibilities include:
- Develop, monitor, and maintain project master schedules integrating work plans from consultants and contractors
- Enforce schedule specifications and reporting requirements for consultants and contractors
- Develop and maintain summary schedules including high-level comparative schedules in support of project delivery method and contracting strategy definition
- Monitor and report out on contractor and consultant progress, schedule performance, critical path, variances, KPIs, and schedule-related risks
- Work closely with project cost control to ensure appropriate alignment with expenditure planning
- Prepare project presentations for senior leadership and facilitate contractor and consultant schedule reviews
- Review and provide feedback and guidance on schedule submittals and Basis of Schedule reports.
- Participate and/or lead project risk analysis and schedule contingency evaluations
- Identify and evaluate schedule impacts of change, performance variations and schedule-related contractor claims
- Update physical % complete for activities by earned value methodologies.
- Support the corporate development, training, and implementation of project scheduling procedures and best practice guidelines
- Support proposals by developing high level schedules, understanding contracts and reporting requirements.
- Work effectively in a virtual environment.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management-related discipline
- AACE Planning and Schedule Professional (AACE-PSP) or PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) preferred
- Primavera P6 certification or equivalent experience
Desired Skills and Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in a lead scheduling role for the development and delivery of large-scale design-build or EPC projects in the home office and field; water/wastewater experience preferred
- Contractor and owner's team experience
- Minimum 15 years of experience with Primavera P6, including Acumen Fuse or Primavera Risk Analysis
- Ability to interpret and comply with a diverse variety of client schedule requirements and specifications
- Ability to administer schedule specifications and reporting requirements for contractors and consultants
- High-level of experience in data integration between scheduling software and other tools.
- Ability to lead and interactive planning session with project team.
- Strong organization, analytical, and writing skills
- Creative and innovative with assignments. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in work style in response to supporting multiple and varied projects and initiatives in parallel
- Ability to develop a schedule implementation plan
- Ability to lead and expedite a Project Controls monthly workflow.
- Able to develop and foster effective working relationships in a virtual team environment
- Flexibility to travel as required to Brown and Caldwell and/or client offices/sites
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Location B: $136,000 - $185,000
