What You Can Expect 

Working remotely in Massachusetts, the Senior Photovoltaic (PV) Technician will be responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of a large number of solar projects.

These are smaller scale projects  currently the largest is about 5 Megawatts (MW)  located on the Cape. This Sr. Technician will be supporting projects and clients typically in Massachusetts but preventative maintenance cycles and maintenance will take you throughout the Northeastern United States.  In this region we are almost split between ground mount units and Commercial rooftop units.  We do not do residential work.  We are seeking someone with a current Journeyman’ s or Masters license.  The issuing state is not important as long as the license is in good standing. be To be Successful in this role you will need a minimum of five years of experience in PV troubleshooting (Root Cause Analysis and repair of Arrays and inverters). Knowledge of IT and SCADA would be beneficial.   You will have gained strong customer service acumen, discussing scheduling of preventative maintenance, problems found and recommending options or requirements to repair or maintain the customers equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring that all work performed at Client locations is in compliance with Clients and ENGIE’s required safety protocols. This position will require extensive travel with some overnight stays. Due to the remote nature of some facilities this position requires a valid state issued Drivers license, and the ability to operate company provided vehicles. 

 

Every day you’ll prioritize safety in everything that you do. You will be traveling to client sites, typically driving your Company provided truck. Servicing both ground arrays (up to 5 MW) owned by municipalities or corporations and smaller rooftop systems at some of your most recognizable retailers.  Typical tasks are cleaning and testing panels, troubleshooting inverters, servicing or updating networking / SCADA hardware/ software. You will be discussing service and upgrade options with the regional Service Manager, and  clients in the field, both on the phone and by completing detailed service reports explaining findings, actions taken and recommendations for future maintenance and upgrades.  

 

  • Respond to trouble tickets in a reasonable timely fashion
  • Develop work scopes for service work orders on repairs issues that require subcontracted assistance
  • Perform scheduled annual preventative maintenance services for PV systems
  • Review annual preventative maintenance service reports to identify issues that require follow up corrective action.  Provide feedback to the Regional Service Manager and plan the corrective action for scope of work
  • Timely maintain detailed expense records for all service calls including parts costs, tools, mileage, and timekeeping utilizing company provided software tools

 

What You’ll Bring  

  •  You must be a State Certified Journeyman or Master Electrician in good standing. The issuing state is not important.
  • With your 5 years of experience you will have learned to abide by and understand the safety requirements of the NEC electrical code, NFPA70 and OSHA 30
  • You will have developed expertise in PV design, installation, and/or maintenance
  • You will have developed expertise in troubleshooting PV systems starting with the review of the PV System performance reports and then troubleshooting the underperformance issues as well as outages  by troubleshooting arrays, inverters, and networking systems to the root cause
  • You will have gained experience with applying technical requirements to commissioning, troubleshooting of solar electrical generation systems, and monitoring communication equipment
  • You will have gained experience in being collaborative  and communicative with peers, management and clients to receive and complete daily tasks and provide well developed and descriptive advice and updates on services rendered or additional services or equipment needed needed to complete assigned work
  • You will have experience in complying with contract terms as stated by an O&M and/or Performance Guarantee contract.  Specifically pertaining to the maintenance to be performed on customer sites with respect to customer safety requirements and site access terms and conditions

 

Additional Details

  •  Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • Up to 90% travel (day time travel), with up to 50% overnight stays
  • Requires safe operation of a company vehicle - Valid State Issued Driver’s license required
  • Must be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
  • Ability to communicate and give report effectively, on highly technical information both written (word / outlook) and verbally
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing 
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • Working Environment
    • Ability to work outdoors and on rooftops
    • Field environment and occasional office environment, may be exposed to different weather elements
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

 

Compensation  

  

Salary Range:  $40.39- $61.92 USD, hourly

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
