Job description

Overview:
This is an advanced-level Senior Payroll Specialist position that performs the full range of payroll work, including coordinating, implementing, and participating in various payroll activities. Responsibilities require tact, discretion, and independent judgment, with overall responsibility to ensure payrolls are quality-checked and processed according to state and federal guidelines and compile and run complex reports relevant to payroll statistics. This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving according to divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations.

Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Overall, day-to-day handling of Payroll.
2. Processes payroll bi-weekly for the organization, with the ability to solve problems, perform calculations, and provide direction, training, and support to payroll and other essential personnel.
3. Serves as the timekeeping administrator of the Dayforce HCM Workforce Management (WFM) timekeeping module, ensuring accurate setup, access, and data maintenance.
4. Review work charts, wage computation, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies and report such trends to the Payroll Director or other designee.
5. Ensure that time data from the Dayforce HCM Workforce Management (WFM) timekeeping module is reconciled each processing period for pay adjustments and payroll processing.
6. Issues and record adjustments to pay due to timekeeping omissions or retro adjustments.
7. Manages the garnishment process, ensuring timely response to all received documents.
8. Upload GL Files from Dayforce to the SharePoint directory for Finance processing in the absence of the Payroll Director.
9. Serves as a liaison to staff and Managers, answering and resolving all questions regarding payroll updates and matters; relates tactfully and effectively with others; works under stressful situations and communicates clearly and effectively in routine and stressful situations.
10. Prepares various payroll documents and records, including data input; comprehends and interprets procedural and other information relating to payroll operations.
11. Obtains needed approvals to submit Payroll and saves all necessary documentation in the payroll folders.
12. Analyze and interpret payroll reports to respond to employees’ payroll problems and discrepancies; generate, review, and maintain various automated reports such as promotions, attachments, and other related reports on a routine basis. Responds to due dates for time-sensitive actions and notify the supervisor of follow-up activities and correct records.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Prepare manual express paychecks on an as-needed basis.
2. Assist with payroll-related account reconciliation process as needed.3. Support other finance duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
1. Minimum 3-5 years of payroll or related experience with acquired payroll laws and tax knowledge.
2. Dayforce HCM experience
3. PC literacy, strong Excel, and data entry skills.
4. Responsiveness

7. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
8. Excellent customer service and employee relations skills.
9. Ability to work with staff of all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
2. Associate/bachelor’s degree in business management or accounting.
3. Familiarity with Great Plains
4. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize.
